Arrow Dampening the Forte!

Saturday I will be adding raammat an ensolite to improve sound, stop rattles, and quiet the cabin.

Any key spots to apply material, tricks, tips, tools I should pick up to make panel removal/installation easier?

I have 80 sq ft of deadener and 14 yards of ensolite, a razor knife, basic hand tools, a roll of rubber door seal, and some energy...

Any help would be appreciated!

Search for D113 and look at all of his build logs. That guy is the guru of anything sound. He has a bunch of great threads about dampening every nook and cranny in the sedan. Doors, roof, floor, trunk, and everything in between.

Shoot him a PM with your questions or towards this thread, I'm sure he'll get back to you soon enough.

Here's one of D113's threads when he did the floors. Not really a DIY guide but he has a bunch of pictures that might help give you an idea... and then there was PHASE 6 of D113's Forte Build log... the floor.......!

As far as the rest of his guides, another member had some sound deadening questions and Noodile did a good job of finding a few of them and saying what they were. Check out Noodile's post #3 in this thread... Dynamat - How Much

I did the floors. It was a lot of work but very worth it. I also did the doors and the front wheel wells. I'll be doing the roof and trunk this spring. I used RAAMat BXT II and Ensolite for my car.

Why the floors? For road noise or sound vibrations? I have noticed a big weak spot being the metal behind the back seat, all sorts of noise there

I did the floors for road noise. After doing the back of the plastic wheel wells with 2 layers of deadener and a layer ensolite, I can now have a whisper-level conversation inside the cabin while driving.

Have you ever taken a ride in a luxury car? So quiet. Music is actually enjoyable to listen to on the highway.

I'd rather put money into making my car as quiet as a luxury car than getting red callipers...

Yea, I had already read d113's threads, thats were I got the idea to use Raammat and ensolite. I was just wondering if there were quick tips he hadn't mentioned or tools I hadn't mentioned....o gave up at the task of removin the rear deck cover....I just stuffed some weather stripping between it and the window, looks decent, won't know if it works til I get my stereo hooked up

Hah. You know what's harder than making your car quiet?

Replacing the engine.

On a serious note, where are you guys buying your material from (Dynamat, Rammat or equivelant)?
