Default Head Unit Suggestions needed

Hey I need some suggestions on an after make head unit. I do Not want to use a LOC with stock stereo... although I was really hoping to keep it. I want something that is easily integrated with the wheel controls, external Mic, and usb function. I found one option on d h gate.com. I'm skeptical of quality. Should I give in and get a brand name unit?

I've always boasted about my head unit and I honestly haven't seen any that are much better. It's a Clarion NX500. They have the newer model, the NX501 but mine is rly amazing. Everything is extremely fast, the graphics look very good, not texty like a lot of other more expensive ones I've seen. The navigation is awesome and there's a lot of great features.

^ I have the nx501

It's a great unit and can't be beat for the price IMO. All the features you get are great. Plus is a well known brand.

I had the model before the NX500 and really enjoyed it! The new ones are far better than what I had.

Guys, does the 500/501 hook up to the factory Bluetooth?
I know you can buy the adapter for the steering wheel controls.

I'd also rather buy a NAV HU instead of multiple amps and equalizers.

Yea I bought the steering wheel adapter, but my Bluetooth controls don't work via steering wheel (which is far from a big deal) but my volume buttons and everything else works. I also have A2DP bluetooth which is awesome

Thanks for the info. I will invest in the steering wheel controls as I like the function. I found a (refurbed) NX501 for about 500$ online but I might go with a new one from Car Audio Stereo - Car Subwoofers - Car Amplifiers and Speakers because they have given great prices on everything else.

I'm still in the market for RCA cables and speaker wire, but I ordered the pioneer AVH P4300DVD because the reviews spoke highly of it and I can add anything else I might want later. Plus I am familiar with Pioneer and like their products, but the Clarion is definatley awesome too, I'll report back once o receive it and get it installed.$375 is what I paid.

I'd recommend KnuKonceptz for interconnects and speaker wire

So I've found almost everything I need to hook up my stereo. But I'm having a hard time finding the double din dash kit that works with the automatic climate control... Has anyone had any luck ordering this?

For wires I found some bundled 6 channel shielded Monster cables to go from Head Unit to 5 channel amplifier in the trunk. And also found some high quality 16 gauge Monster speaker wire. Seems like a good option. I'm going to rewire the stereo completely.

I was doing a bit of searching and found the CX501 by Clarion. Basically its the same radio as the NX501 but without the NAV and $400 cheaper. I dont need NAV since I use my phone if I actually need it. Anyone look into that one at all?
