Okay, so I have way too many little projects planned for my ride... but here's a big one:
Subwoofers on the rear deck.
The problem is, the rear deck is thin plastic and I doubt it would hold a ten pound sub. I could reinforce it, but that would be a lot of work and I don't know what's under it or if there's enough room.
So the alternative is to put a sub in the space left by the center armrest. The board behind the seats seems to be sturdy enough to hold a sub, or possibly two...
Of course that would make it an infinite baffle enclosure which I've used before in my home theater set up.
Or build a small box that fits in the space perfectly so it looks OEM? Hmm I'll start measuring
Any insights?

I just looked at it and it seems like a single 8" would fit perfectly. The problem: there's like three or four layers behind the armrest. The board, padding, and cloth on both sides. This could get interesting...

It is metal under that plastic, cut out the holes use mdf rings and a custom box, reinforce the sheet metal, cut the plastic for hole also obviously but you'd lose your pass through seats, but it would be cool! Just some more ideas

What I'm going to do is get a custom enclosure made, one that I can remove if I need to for more trunk space. I'm not a big fan of putting them on the rear deck, then you have to deal with all the metal bouncing around and its never going to sounds as good as a well made box.
You can get some shallow mount 8's. I wouldn't use them for the lows though, I would use them for the mids.
