Default Album and Artist Name?

Does anyone know how to get these to show up inside our Kias? I've noticed that my friend's Android shows some of the album titles and artist names, but he has no idea how he's doing that. I'm wondering if anyone knows how to get this to work with songs from iTunes that I've put on a flash drive? Thanks in advance.

Here is what I have found with file naming specifically when using the USB. i'm guessing it's the same for the phone memory.

Use this pic as reference to wording location.

The area showing "Pop" is where the Artist name or album should be, and Where is says "Sirius hits 1" should be the song title. When using a storage device is displays the folder name at "Pop" and the file name at "Sirius hits".

I set is all up so each artist had their own folder and the file name was nothing more than the song name. It worked great, however, I changed it back. The reason being, when separated into folders it will not shuffle outside of the current folder the song currently playing is in. It sucks because it just displays "Root" where I want the artist name to be now.

It would be nice if they made the thing actually read the tags associated with each song and displayed those.

Awesome, this was exactly the kind of reply I was looking for. So I make separate folders in the 'ROOT' with the artist's name, then a folder inside of that with the album title, then I put the song file inside of that with its name?

I didn't drill down that far with it. All I did was folder for artists name then the songs inside of that. I did not do separate folders within the artists name for album so I am not sure how it will react to that.

I use folders by artists, or genre (ie new downloads, etc...), I then name all my files in the following mannor: "Album" - "Track#" - "Title"

Just my 2 cents.

OK I just did it. That won't work either. If you have the Artist named folder them Albums under it, it will drill down to each folder containing a music file. So in the "Pop" Area it will show the Album Name and in the "Sirius Hits" part will display file name. I suppose you could name the Album folder "ArtistName - Album Name" and have it display that. however, the issue of not being able to shuffle outside of that folder still remains. it will just play files one by one in alphabetical/numerical order then go to the next album and do the same.

It sucks. i wish you could have multiple folders and it shuffle through them.

That's cool and all but it will still only display the whole file name at the bottom w/ the folder name at the top. I hate that it takes forever to scroll through the file name. That's why I'd like the Artist name at the top.

No matter what though if you have 2 folders you cannot shuffle and have it play from all folders. It will only shuffle through the files in the current active folder.

*Thumbs Up* Someone obviously RTFM

This is correct. hold random down and it turns to A.RDM and will shuffle thru multiple folders.

Good deal now I'm satisfied.

Just to add, I also have folders for each Artist and then songs from there albums in those folders. If you Have the Artist as the root folder, then have the albums in the root with there own folders, the car won't read it right. A good program to use for this type of thing is TagScanner. It can take your whole music collection (If you have whole albums and not just separate songs) and fix all the information in the files, including the Album Art.
