Im a fan of the expensive systems myself , but I'd rather have just a nice sound over performance , I bought my car because I was sick of repairing something one piece at a time. Most people here are fans of magnaflow mufflers , but being a v8 kind of guy , I will simply say magnaflow and 4 cylinders sound like complete shit. Buy I have always been a fan of certain 4cylinders and flow masters , they seem a little less restrictive than magnaflows , but at the same time offer a cleaner , less ass effect , but it has to be a super 44.
Tuner I kinda agree.. Magnaflow and flow master sound like crap in 4cylinder cars. I like DC sports, solo and borla usually for 4cylinders..
Cheery bombs are garbage..

Super 44's sound pretty damn good on certain 4 cylinders.
Only reason I want a performance exhaust is sound.. I would spend 1k on the sterling or the picosound variable exhaust anyday.
But as I stated , I didn't buy my car for performance lol
A cat-back with HFC can net you decent gains as well as a powerband redistribution. Add a good header, and you get even more. You'd spend $1000 just for sound?? Not me, never been one for "all show, no go". And "much" is a relative term. Ten HP isn't much on a 300HP engine, but it is for a 173HP engine in a light (for today) car.

The koup isnt that light , i mean... According to you and FL DMV's , My koup only weighs like 390 pounds less than my El Camino... Thats not light.. lol Granted that was the weight minus 2 cylinders at that time , i dont thing the v6 to v8 would raise it that much lol
Yeah , but thats you man.. Ive built engines just for sound... Do you really think i care about performance in a 4 cylinder lol... Our car is sporty stock , well more than enough for a stock car
Call up greddy, have them cut the pipe off their sti RS muffler and send you the muffler.....$250 and it sounds like pure sex!!! But that's with a turbo'd forte. Idk how it would sound stock.

Hence why I said light (FOR TODAY). It is light in this world of increasingly weighted down cars that must have every available safety and technology feature. It's rare finding a car that weighs less than 3000 lbs today. Hell, my Forte is about the length of my '80 Lotus Eclat, but weighs ~700 lbs more...yikes!!!!! And I've never modded or added on to a I4 engine before, so I'm interested in what it can do.
exhaust systems are a game of trade-offs. larger diameter, straight through designs for the least back pressure= more noise/drone. i've been through 5 different systems on my se-r, from a complete cat back system (Greddy), through two different custom magnaflow sytems, and a dynomax vt to the present Vibrant street power muffler. the last 4 were/are 3" systems. by far the best sounding is the Vibrant muffler. and the stealth flat black look won't draw too much "unwanted attention". i hate buzzy/raspy sounding systems and this one fits the bill. all, imho http://www.vibrantperformance.com/pressrelease20.php

3"?? Wow, that's kinda large. What else have you done to your se-r? One of my good buddies has an OBX ( I believe) on '03 spec.V.
