Prob why Turbo Kits & Injen, use the long polished tube vs a short one...

I did notice a difference in performance, albeit a slight one. This mod is somewhat comparable to a CAI since it retains the stock plumbing. That being said, I would consider this a ram air setup. If you Google SRI vs CAI or something similar, you will see that there are performance related pros and cons of both systems. The Turbokits/Injen sytems and the like present a bit of a concern to me specifically because I live in an area prone to flash floods. The other issue to consider is that the Turbokits HP peak is at or near redline. HP is only half the story. Torque is the real deal. This system retains low end real world performance.

Cool Hey joechicklets this might help

I bought the 3 inch K&N filter to on my 2.0 liter koup but I cut the little Nubs off and put a 2 inch PVC cuppling pipe in the air pipe. I'll load pictures when I get my computer working, also for people who want to know what it sounds like it's close to a subaru sound

It Does sound a little like the subaru motor when you give it some throttle, anywhere from 2,700 to 3,500 sounds really good!

I did notice a bit of a diffrence in throttle responce and even my g/f said she could feel a change. seems like the car is happy to be getting a bit more air/flow

for thrity dollars its a fun change even if its just for the better sound lol

I love the sound ! but I have one problem with my spectre air filter. It keeps falling off after 1 day of use. I really need help because its very annoying and it can be dangerous for my motor ... thanks !!

maybe his is the version that doesn't come with the clamp. I saw one that didn't look like it had a clamp (it was also 3").

maybe it did have one in the packaging, just not on the base where it ought to be..

Used a clamp on mine and its still on there. Make sure you twist it on up to the first ripple in the tube. No need to cut anything. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3866810

I used one too but because it's rubber, it doesn't really work ... So I bought a 2.75" pipe and put it in the ''intake'' so when I used the clamp, it works very well ! Anyway, I love this mod

the filter I got was a spectra, and inside of it is a rubber insert.. take out the rubber insert and the filter will slide up over the intake hose where it has the flex ribs.
just run the filter up flush with one of those and then clamp it down.
it should work perfectly that way.

maybe I'll post some pictures later today to explain myself better.

I went and bought the same filter as the first poster had. I am very pleased with it. very quick swap and cheap but great mod. will be easy to put back to factory. I defiantly recommend this upgrade.

I tried this mod out... It does sound pretty sweet when in second gear, but I took it off the following day. I noticed that there was less filter medium when I took it off (I hope it was a defective spectre part or something that all filters go through)... Other than that, the filter sits in a warm engine compartment w/ no heat shield, the stock tubing is a little bit too flexible, and thus, I don't feel confident that the filter will be permanently attached. By tightening the clamp you are actually warping the stock tubing... just a few thoughts...
ps: I would love to see a Dyno to see if it actually does increase performance or maybe it's just in my head...

I did this mod a little over 2 weeks ago. It fell off once, it's the way I had the filter on that was at fault. I used those extra rubber pieces when there really is no need for them. So, I threw them off, slipped the cone over the hose, and I've had no problems ever since. Doesn't mean I don't check it often because I do.

Performance, not too sure if I gained much of anything. The throttle response is very noticeable. I'll keep it on just for that very reason and of course the sound

Well I was bored today so I decided to do this. It's an enjoyable cheap and easy mod. There's probably like a 1-2 hp increase but that's negligible. I like it for the sound, it's a lot throatier.

I took a video of it but it doesn't do it too much justice though. I think it sounds a little better when the hood is down and you're just driving but I'll post it if someone wants.
