Default Fog lights

I know there are several stickys on how to install and wire the fog lights, but I was wondering if anyone knew of anyone who was successful in setting it up almost factory OEM by getting a new turn signal stalk with the fog light switch and also setting it up so the fog light indicator will light up on the gauges. Here's a link to someone who was able to do it on a 09 Sonata:

How To: 09 Sonata Oem Fog Light Install - Hyundai-Forums.com : Hyundai Forum

Since Kia and Hyundai are the same, would this process work on the Forte? Has anyone been successful in doing something like this? Thanks.

Anything is possible with the right amount of time and knowledge. It's just not cost effective. What does it gain you? Nobody would ever notice other than you. Why go thru the troubleand added expense?

I supposed it's not that big of a deal, but I like things to have a factory appearance to them. If there's a light in the gauge cluster for fog lights, it should go on when you have fog lights. If you're just connecting a few extra wires as the Sonata thread is, and you already have to run the wires from the bumper to add the fog lights anyway, why not do it? If you can get info on the correct wires, I think it would be worth it.

Problem is that the Sonata is probably pre wired in all cars whether it has fog lights or not. The Forte is not. If your car didn't come with fog lights then there is nothing there for fog lights. You would need a new stalk and need to run all new wiring.

I understand, but the Forte has a light in the gauge cluster on the Forte, so I would assume there some wires already installed that would make it similar to OEM. The wiring I wouldn't think would be a big deal since you already have to run wires regardless. I agree the stalk would be a bit of a change, but I don't think it's too much to do if you already have the dash somewhat apart.

Only because the gauge cluster overlays are universal across the Forte. Just because the gauge overlay shows the indicator doesn't mean it is or ever could be functional. might want to check into that before proceeding. Keep in mind the info display is different from the EX to the SX yet both show the fog indicator when the fogs do not come on the EX. The overlay is universal between the trims but the gauge cluster may not be.

That's a good point. Looking at it, I probably won't try to tackle the OEM aspect of things. I think I'll probably just go with the sticky you did showing how to put the foglights on with the parking lights, which is how I'm likely going to use them anyway. Can you point me to the correct universal light wiring kit on ebay? I just want to make sure I get the right one to follow your very detailed directions, which are great by the way.
