I would like to tint my tails but want to take the covers off to do it. I already tried unbolting the 3 bolts on the inside of the light fixture but it didn't seem like it wanted to come off. Do I need to just push harder or is there more bolts/clips to take off?
It's probably plastic welded to the housing, would probably have to cut it than epoxy it back together, unless you mean just removing the whole light from the car.

To remove the whole light, all you need to do is unscrew the three bolts, then push it out from behind. It might be stuck on by the insulating foam, so just push a little harder.

also try pushing the bolts evenly on both sides. if you push one side then the threads on the bolt on the opposing side could get caught up which would not allow you to remove the taillight........are you removing the tail light or opening the housing?

Yeah, the whole assy will come out with the 3 bolts loosened. I found pushing on the bolts evenly will pop it out.
I've had mine out many times, upgrading to LED bulbs, and after the first time, it get's easier.

And on the side is a slotted notch on the light with a plastic tab attached to the car. The light MUST slide toward the rear or you risk damaging the tab or slot.
Yeah I just want the lens away from the car so I don't have to tape everything off, I wasn't sure if the whole light assy came out or not. When I tried to remove it last time I was affraid of breaking something if I pushed to hard but not anymore, thanks for the help guys.
To get the middle lights out you just drop the carpet cover off the lid. Its got the little screw clips on it. Get a philips screw driver and unscrew the plastic screw in the middle and then they just pop out. There's a few bolts holding the middle lights in to if I remember correctly.
If you have an skills with a can of spray paint it is actually very easy to tint tails.
And as far as cost....yes it is cheap.
I could get access to a paint booth and just pay them for paint after hours. My old best friends family owns a collision shop. I haven't painted before but i have done body work. Sanding, body filler, etc. the easier stuff that is forgiving if yu mess up lol
