Default Audio Controlled LED Strips

My friend and I got bored last night so we got out the ol' Arduino (oh, college days, how I miss thee!), jacked some parts from an old iPod transmitter, and started coding. Currently, the LED strips are being controlled directly from the analog audio signal. All sensitivity adjustments are made within the code. When installed, sensitivity will be adjustable with a potentiometer.

Next step is to box it all up and install it into my Koup in the front footwells. I may also put some in the trunk for Ss and Gs .

Cool. Do you know how to get it so both of the LED strips are synced?

Good question. Here's a couple of way to make the left and right blink together:

1. Drive both lights with the same channel, either right or left. In general, this will look good with the music, but you will lose a channel. This might look bad with certain songs (e.g. Pink Floyd - Any Colour You Like).

2. Plug the left and right channels into a "mixer" circuit, like a studio audio mixer, and drive the LEDs of the output of the mixer.

3. In the coding, do a max, min, or average of the left and right channels and use the output to drive the LEDs.

Tapping into the speaker lights works too. The speaker lights are driven by vibration. My lights are driven by the actual audio signal. Although slightly more expensive and time consuming to implement, my code gives me much more flexibility in controlling the sensitivity, brightness, etc. of the lights.
