Default Need advice on cutting Diffuser on Koup

Ok, so the guy I have doing the work on my dual muffler project said he would not cut on the diffuser, so I need to do it myself.

I'm guessing either my saws all with a fine tooth blade or Dremel tool cutting wheel.

Would like advice from those that have done it or opinions of those that have done something similar.

I remember BigE did a little modification to his rear diffuser. Here's the thread.

Dual Exhaust on a Sedan SX...with Pictures!

Get with BigE on this subject, I'm sure he'll know a lot more than myself. Personally I'd be too scared to do a mod like this lol.

Just go to a shop man. It's the safest way and you'll get it done right the first time. My muffler guy did the same thing, he wouldn't touch the diffuser so I went to my mechanic and he did it. I'm sure any reputable, even small place, would cut it for a decent price. Rather pay than mess up and have to get a new diffuser if u mess up. U also have to cut on a certain angle so the tips fit well.

Def not a saws-all. I'll tear it to hell. The dremel may work but will leave a rough edge from melting the plastic. I think your best bet it to score it several times with a blade and cut it out that way.

Use an air saw with an 18tpi blade, like this (Ajax Air Saw. #AT313).

You can clean up the edge with sandpaper, start with something like 180 grit then go finer so you end up with a smooth finish.

I d say dermel. Get the reineforced wheel. But the trick is a stead hand. A good outline. And only let it touch the plastic for seconds at a time other wise you ll be melting it. Then get a 60 or 120 dermel sanding disk. Smooth it to perfection. Then hand sand it with like 400 or something.
