Actually if you wash it in Dawn dish soap and use Krylon Fusion Plastic paints there is no need for sanding during prep.

I have been using this paint on Automotive plastics for years and it is the best plastic paint I have ever seen. Not to mention it comes in so many cool colors.

Well, my first attempt! Please don't laugh. I was thinking of doing it again at some time, and flipping the colors, but now I think it's just the right amount of pop.

Yes, I know, she needs a bath!

Does anyone know if you can use this clearcoat? Or is it just for metal/ceramic? And what is a good primer that wont crack? What have you guys used and did it crack?

I'm going to be painting mine today, purple and black. But if I can find a bronze that matches the car I'll be using that instead of black.

You don't need primer, it sticks to the plastic perfect. And yes i used that clear coat, it works fine.

That's what I did too... And it works fine ! Don't need to spend on primer.

Did you paint the black or just tape it off and leave that as the regular engine cover color

I'm bumping this thread because there's some good ones here. Also if I can find either maroon or orange paint today, I'm doing mine too (for obvious reasons)
