Mounting it in front of (air channels from the front to the back of car during driving) and below (heat rises) the actual engine that produces the heat is the ideal location other than mounting it outside of the car in front which would look pretty funny. Having it near the windshield would put it right where most the engine heat gets dispersed, not an ideal location for a "Cold" air intake.
Is the filter supposed to lay on top of the splash guard? Mine kinda pushes it down a little.
There was a rubber part that was inside of the filter, kinda looked like an adapter thing, I couldn't get it to fit on the tube along with the filter so I didn't put it on. Is it ok not to use that part and have the filter go straight onto the tube?
Thanks to anyone who answers!

I didnt use iti think it was more of a packing kinda thing from TK to prevent that tube from bending. mine is right on top of the splash gaurd too, but i didnt use the battery tray mount they included. Will be installign that and the ECU mount today maybe thats why it so low.

I didn't use that little rubber ring either, I'm pretty sure you're good without it.
As far as the filter pushing on the splash guard; Mine was the exact same way, but that's because I don't have it mounted to the battery tray. There should be enough play in it to push it up an inch or two to mount.
I installed mine today actually. My filter rests on the plastic guard as well and pushes on it a bit. I mounted mine to battery so I am not sure what can be done to fix this problem. Maybe someone can come up with a solution.
I installed mine yesterday and used the battery mount. Mine does not press down on the guard.

Yeah I have mine mounted to the battery tray. I think I might try to loosen some screws and see if it will budge. If not...oh well....i do like the sound though!

i installed my tk cai last night it was very easy, for the 2011 koup i couldnt mount it to the battery box which i already knew so i altered it, but what i didnt know is the bushing thats supposed to be used for the new ecu mounting bracket, it made my ecu sooo wobbly and wasnt holding in place after being fully tightend, so what i did was take like 6 or 7 fender washers and took out that rubber bushing that they tell u to use and tightend the bolts down with the washers and its tight, works good. but i wouldnt reccomend the rubber bushing for the ecu bracket!

You were supposed to take out the metal bushing inside the rubber gromet before tightening it down or it will be very loose since the metal bushing will keep it from tightening down all the way.
Did the bolt you were using have threads all the way to the bolt head? Thinking that maybe the bolt you had was threaded halfway so you couldn't tighten the rubber gromet all the way down. Using the rubber gromet gives the ECU some shock protection and I'm not talking about electrical shock Maybe use some of your washers with the rubber gromet to give some protection to the ECU.
Hey guys, just wondering what tools I'll need to install the CAI? And approx. how long does it take? I've never done work on a car before so this will be my first install, and I want to make sure I get it done right. Thanks guys!
