Default How To: Kia Forte Remote Start

**This should carry over from model to model and all current years. No guarantee though so do your research.

First off, I have to give a big thanks to Mark (Cobra259). He has great pricing so if you guys need anything shoot him a PM. He threw a few extras in the box for me as well.

Part# U8560 1M000

In The Box:

-Instruction Manual
-Control Module
-Antenna
-Transmitters (Fobs)
-Wire Harness
-Hardware Kit
-Foam Tape
-User Manual
-Quick Reference Guide
-Warning Label
-Wire Ties
-Hood Switch Bracket
-Hood Switch Harness

Instructions can be found before hand on KGIS to see if it's something you can tackle.

I will be tackling this, this weekend so stay tuned. The instructions are very straight forward but I hope to provide some additional photos.

The kit was $280 from Cobra259 on here who works at Feldman KIA. Shoot him a PM if you need any parts. He gives us 20% off.

The install is very straight forward. It's mostly unplugging harnesses and plugging new ones in. Since it's KIA OEM all the connectors are there. Only 3 or 4 snap on wire splices.

Just buy a viper or python system for half maybe less than that and get a better product..

No thanks. I'll stick with KIA OEM. Not really sure how you figure it's half the cost, but
And you probably didn't account for install costs... I've had Viper and seen Python. Not really anything to write home about. I'll stick with the simplicity of not having to cut wires and search around for the correct ones.

Awesome! I was just thinking about going with an OEM remote start or Aftermarket remote start. I will be waiting to see the updates to help make a choice that's best for me. Thanks!! *subscribing*

Please start another thread if you want to debate the value of this system. Let's just keep on topic. Thanks!

I'm not sure but I don't think so. It looks like the hood switch deactivates the remote start as well as opening the trunk but I don't know. It's a little vague in the instruction manual. I'll report on it after the install.

I assume this only works with auto-tans cars, not cars with a manual trans?
