Default DIY: JNC Method Retrofit.

Just got my OEM projectors. I got the Murano with STi-R lens. and the E-55 (the best high-beam projector out there).

I'm going to see if i can mount the E-55, but it doesn't look likely. It's probably going to require me to extend the back of the housing 1 or 2 inches.

for those wondering about the "JNC method" it involves mount the projector with 3 screws that give height and rotational adjustment. (Linky for them: JnC's Mounting Method (with Rotational Adj Capability)

THis retro will take a long time. Way longer than a regular MH1, so bear with me.

These Projectors are HUGE. 3" lenses. So they're probably gonna be mounted straight to the housing. Not the reflector bowl.

here are few pictures:

THOSE ARE HUGE!! Way bigger than the OEMs on my Optima. Very clean cut offs though.

The Murano will definetly fit in the low beam. you're supposed to trim the metal brackets it came with.

The hella is what i'm not sure of. its supposed to fit WITHOUT the reflector bowl.

As for the Price, i got a decent price. Muranos for $120, Hella for 100 and paid 160 for the D2S kit. so $280 for the Murano and the kit, and $100 for the Hella. (unless you want the ones with the burnt reflector bowls.

PS: the retrofit source is now running a special on the muranos. They're $120 with the STI-R lens if you order the kit. usually they're much more expensive. So that $160+120= $280

damn.. not bad.
I don't know a whole lot about projectors though.. I couldn't tell you the difference between the STI-R or the Muranos aside from the metal bracket lol
I know hella lights are rather good from what I've head though.
Know anything about digital HID's? or these:
Kia Xenon Lights Kit by Philips HID

I've been told Digital HID's or the Phillips are the best you can get, I just dont know enough about lights

^ these are usually fake. if you wanna buy a quality set, go to theretrofitsource.com
then get their oem package.

like this:

Down side about this is that they're D2S. so you would have to get adapters and crap.

D2S: Philips OEM HID System - HID Component Kits from The Retrofit Source Inc

STi-r is just a lens. thats attached to the Murano.

the Hella are the ones without the bracket. not that great low beam, but amazing highs and color flickr.

So the Digital HID's that are usually priced between $150-$500 aren't that good?

EXeS DIGITAL HID KITS - DistantXtremes Lighting
Xtreme Digital HID Kits <- crazy pricy

^ yes they're not that good. All HIDs are digital. Have you ever opened up a ballast and looked inside it? Looks like a motherboard.

Best Ballasts are: OEM (shich are lexus, infiniti, merceds, all these goodies), followed my morimotto ballasts (which have hot restrike feature too), followed by all the chinese lower quality stuff you see like the ones you posted, DDM, diode dynamic. etc.

Bulbs wise. For PNP Kit, best bulbs are the morimoto. Then all the crappy chinese ones (even though 2 bulbs might seem the same, the arc shape, the amount of salts, UV emitted all affect output and headlights). Yes morimoto is chinese, but they have great quality control and overall higher standards.

hrmm.. ok. Different ballasts.
Guess there is no real difference between HID, Digital HID and the Phillips HID's?
Thats the main thing I've been trying to figure out. I even asked a local speed shop and they had no clue.
Would 55w HID's be better/brighter than 35w?

lol, you're going to be doing this retro thing forever! not bad though...those murano's look nice. Good luck! There's going to be a lot of cutting involved! Also, keep in mind that if they stick out the back anymore than the OEM dust caps you're gonna have to relocate your battery. The drivers side dust cover pretty much comes in contact with the battery (at least on mine)
