Default Jeong Sung Eun - Kia Vice Chairman Steps Down!

It's reported Kia vice chairman Jeong Sung Eun has stepped down due to the recall for the Sorento, Borego and Soul. The current recall is not bad compared to other manufacturers, a pretty bold move and if its indeed true then it shows you how serious Kia are taking there quality control. Looks like Lee Hyoung Keun is already taking his place.

wasn't there just an article about how good he was running the company and how he didn't step down years ago when his father asked him to, and he did so well so far?? now this??

I guess there could be two possible explanations. I'd like to think Kia takes no prisoners when it comes to company screw-ups, even though this isn't too serious, its still a major pain in Kia's ass and that they don't let there upper management off lightly (unlike most other car companies out there where the corporate management can do no wrong).

The other side, the darker side, is there a bigger recall on the horizon that we just don't know about yet?

Well if they wanted him to step down years ago maybe this is finally an excuse to get him to do it now. Maybe they didn't want him there this entire time.

I think its a "save face of the company thing"

As scottiedog said, he likes to think kia take no holds on company screw ups I think maybe jeong Sung Eun stepped down for that very reason to make the company look like they are doing something about this issue.. he saves face and honors his company etc.

Not much more on this apart from the media having a bit of a field day and blowing it all out of proportion. I have read several times that all of Kia's management are obsessed with quality control and I guess that this recall would be enough to warrant a step down.

Interesting that the wiring is at fault, the actual mood lighting system is made in the US, the wiring to the speakers would be Kia's department, however did Kia just throw in any old wire or was it to JIC (the manufacturers) spec?

Is this true? Guess it would explain the sloppy work...
