I tried a search but couldn't find anything.....
I've got a 2010 Koup with the 2.0L motor and 5 speed manual trans.....just today I was driving with the window down and I noticed the engine making a rattling noise when I was changing gears.
The sound is heard when I back off the accelerator, just before I press the clutch in. It sounds like a metallic rattling as the RPM's drop when the clutch is going in. It's only heard for maybe half a second just before the gear change......and it doesn't do it on every gear change, more so on the higher RPM shifts.
It's definitely not pinging/detonation as I know what that sounds like and this is happening on deceleration not when the engine is under load. It was also happening when the car is warmed up.
Do Koup's run timing chains? Could it be slack in the chain rubbing on the timing case or something similar?
Any help would be appreciated!
