TweetWhere to get a molding fit floor mat for the Koup?
Hello,
I got my Koup SX this last September and I absolutely love it. However, living in Canada, I must face the dreadful winter road and all of its salts.
I currently have one of those generic rubber mat but the salt water still leak from my boot on the side onto the black color mat over time and it becomes white and condensed. I looked around the web and found WeatherTech® - Kia Forte 2011-2012 DigitalFit™ Molded Floor Liners .
It's exactly what I need but it DOES NOT fit the Koup version, rather only the normal Forte model. So anyone out there know about a similar product or have you tried to force fit this DigitalFit mat into your KOUP?
I searched the web but I haven't come across anything yet, please forward me any information or suggestions you have on this, I'd really appreciated it.
I have been patiently waiting for the Weathertech floorliners for my Koup. I have emailed several times and actually spoke to an employee who assured me that they would be ready by Dec 2011/ Jan 2012 but still nothing. I asked my parts manager to get in touch with his contact at Weathertech and he said that they have the mould ready to go but have not yet started production???? Luckily we've had barely any snow this year in T.O!
I have the WeatherTech DigitalFit mats for my Koup, and although they say they don't fit the Koup, they actually do. The only problem is only 1 out of 2 pin holes in the mats actually line up to a pin in the floor, so basically you'll only be able to line up one of the pin holes. It's all you really need if you ask me...
Besides, even if none of the pin holes lined up, the mats still wouldn't "slide" because they are custom molded with lips on the side...not much room for them to slide anyways.
On another note, it's a little hard removing the mats. I removed mine yesterday to spray them down with the garden hose and I will tell you that they are not easy to remove from that single pin hole. You have to use extreme force to pull the mat off the pin. I'm waiting for one of these days the entire pin is going to rip off out of the carpeting, though the pin still looks well attached to the floor after removal, may just be me.
Just to clarify, I only have the front mats. I didn't order the rear ones because I don't often have back seat passengers. Order the rear ones at your own risk, not sure if they will fit!
I think I'll buy it then. I'm just interested in the front mat for now. I'll stick to it until WeatherTech release the Koup version as Malta1 mentions.
Pics would be great! I've been holding off too because I was also told that the Koup mats would be released at the trailing end of this winter. As Malta said, I'm just gonna wait until next winter at this point... We've had next to no snow in Toronto this year so there's no point in getting them now!

Huh... this must be a Canknucklehead problem. My factory floor mats only have one hole in them for attaching to the little pin on the floor. It's the only one there is. Hmmm... Has anyone ever made a thread for comparing interiors between the US and Canadian models? I know the Canadian center console is a bit different as well.

My #1 isn't any sillier than half the "#3 in NA"s on here.
@jgshannon: Sorry dude, but those mats are crap. 1). They don't cover the entire floor/carpet, and 2). For that price, you might as well pay about the same for the WeatherTech mats that do cover the entire floor and have side lips!
@Aluus, yeah I can't speak for other Forte owners in the US, though I doubt their's is different, my Koup has two pins attached to the carpet - one on each side of the floor (L/R). Would be interesting to come across a comparison topic; don't think I've seen one yet.
But if you think about it, why are they different in any way? They're all imports....unless CAN has some strange guidelines/regulations that are different from ours.
Alrighty, here's some pics. Excuse the dirt, I use my Koup excessively for making deliveries so it gets pretty dirty.
There's only one real thing I don't like about the mats - they don't go underneath the gas/trunk levers, so this small area is exposed to dirt collection.
Well I can't wait for Weathertech and although the sedan liners will fit in the Koup I ended up going with these on ebay and saved over $100. I will re-post once they arrive and get installed.
My Koup only has one post, the sedan and hatch have two posts. From the pics these liners have one hole.
