Default 2010 Forte Ignition / Door Lock question

I want to re-key my ignition and/or door lock. I called the dealer and they said a kit with matching ignition lock and door lock is $218.

I've been looking around and have found ignition lock cylinders for $50-$60 and door locks for around $30.

I don't mind having a separate key for the door and ignition if it will save me a lot of money. I use the keyless entry all the time so it would barely matter.

The places I have found that sell the ignition lock don't show a picture of the part. I'm not sure if its exactly what I need or not. Does anyone know of a site that sells new ignition locks? Is the the piece I am looking for?

Any help would be appreciated.

They are very unlikely to suit your needs and fit your car like you want to, they sound universal for that price. Dont cheap out on something like this...

A good question is why do you want to change all your key ports?

The ignition lock cylinder I found on-line is from Fredy Kia in Houston. Just not sure if its the right thing...

I need to re-key because my ex still has a key to my car that she won't give back, and she is a little crazy. I think I'll just change the door lock and have the dealer reprogram the keyless entry.

This is why you never give them a key to anything unless you're married!

You could just leave it and if she steals it, it is an automatic who did it and jail time! BAM

yea, i could do that, but i'd rather avoid the possibility of her running it off a cliff. i've been taking the starter relay out at night, but i don't want to keep having to do that.

You could always install an alarm. If she uses the key it goes off and you can run out and club her, or serve her the court summons lol

Put in a kill switch to the ignition system and hide it under the dash or seat.

Attach a bomb to go off in 5 min if not disarmed... just don't forget to disarm it.

Women are crazy. Even my wife doesn't have a key to my car.

I only have one spare and it's staying in my safe. No woman will ever have a key to my car!

what about adding a 'club' to the vehcile?

i'd assume that your concern is that she'll steal your vehicle not break/enter/damage.

I know Clubs arent 100% but it'll surely help once she opens the door and sees that its got a lock on the steering wheel.

Thats a good idea as well. I think, personally, that new locks are overkill. But, I dont know your situation. Though, there are some cheaper ways to deter' one from stealing your car.
