Default What happened to the Koup SX's awesome rims?

I've been looking at 2012 Koup SX models on the street and they don't seem to have the 2011 awesome looking rims. They now have bland looking ones like every other compact car has.

I've been seeing this on the streets and dealers:

Instead of the 2009-2011 rims:

Why did Kia stop putting these rims on the Koup SX? It looks like a step back to me.

And not just that. I was watching a commercial for the new 2012 Mini Cooper and it has the Koup SX's rims without the grey caps. They don't just look similar. They are exactly the same.

Compare it yourselves:

Koup SX rims without grey caps on a Koup.

Koup SX rims on a Mini Cooper Countryman AWD

You can see the rims on this video too:

Did Kia sell their rims to Mini?

I like the wheels on the first one better. I have never been a fan of the other wheels.

The sweet wheels are for the '10 SX Koups only. The new ones aren't bad by any means, but the ones my Koup have definately stand out more, IMO.

I feel like Kia really cheaped out on the wheels after '10 and threw whatever on it afterwards. I saw the wheels that are in the first pic on a '07ish elantra...like almost if not exactly the same wheels. It's like they made too many of them and stuck them on the koups

I have a 11 sx and have the rims in 1st pic. But they are darker stock than they look like in that pic.

More than likely Kia wanted to appeal to everyone and make the rims more non-offensive and bland. It's fine with me I saved myself $850 with my stock 2010's.

Even if you don't like the flower rims, you can't deny they're much more distinguishing than the bland generic ones on the first pic.

It does seem inconsistent when Kia stopped putting them out on Koup's though. I have 2011 and it has the flower rims.

It's strange to see them on Minis now. I thought they were pretty unique, or am I wrong and those rims have been around longer?

Maxwell I actually do like the flower looking ones and rly hate the newer ones..like u said they're more distinguished than the others. I think that's one of the first things that drew me to the car. Then after owning it for 6-8 months I wanted aftermarket wheels cuz I guess I got sick of them lol

Cheaped out? I think plastic inserts are cheap and when removed leaves holes in rims. I like the look of the newer ones alot more

The 2011 and newer wheels are boring bland and common looking, everything the Koup is not IMO. My friend has a Corrolla and it came with rims that look very similar to what they are putting on the Koups now.
