Does anyone know how to remove an automatic shift knob? i took the boot and and check to see if there were any screws on it and didnt see any. i gave it alittle twist not wanting to damage it. but it wouldnt budge.

Pull down on the plastic piece below the knob, its kind of tough, but it will come off and reveal a screw underneath.

It isn't too hard lol and its super fun (in my opinion) when you get the hang of it. Also its way easier to get different shift knobs.

On the 2010 auto, you twist the bottom ring on the shifter knob. This releases and reveals a small set screw that must be removed. Once the screw is out the handle simply slides off. I am not sure if this is valid for the 2011 because I think the handle is different.

I will be attempting to replace the shift boot on my 2011 auto. Just got the RX-8 leather shift boot with red stitching. If it fits, it fits. If it doesnt, I am sure I can find someone that wants to buy it off of me. Only cost me $9.

My '11 Koup EX A/T has the shifter with the little push button on the left side of the shifter. Sorry can't post a photo as I'm at work. Are there any decent aftermarket replacements for that type?
