Audio system in 2017 Forte5 sx

I own a 2013 Forte5 ex, and last week I bought a 2017 sx. Took a week to get the new car because no dealers seem to have the 2017 Forte5 SX in stock. Anyway, so far I love the new car. Drives great and I love all the upgrades. The one thing I don't like is the audio. It has 6 speakers, but they sound flat. My other forte has awesome sound compared to the new one. At first I thought maybe satellite radio was just dull, so I tested it with some songs from my thumb drive. Definitely sound like crap on the new car. I've tried changing the tone settings, but it doesn't help. Anyone else experience this on the newer cars?

The simple fix, which I did with my 2015, is to install new speakers. I used Hertz component up front and coax in the back. Night and day difference in sound.

Yeah. I think I will need to replace the speakers. It's a shame, really. So far I love everything else about this car. Only at 400 miles...so I know that could change. But it makes a great first impression (minus the audio).

i have the 2016 SX with all the buttons... factory audio sux...period. Mark Levinson in my Lexus... sux. my boy has a 550 BMW M Sport, audio sux... get the picture. i did Rockford Fosgate all around except the Sub.. sub is Pioneer. have a Rockford Fosgate 4 channel pushing the door speakers, a pioneer amp for the sub and a 6 channel Audio Control LC6i pushing everything. sounds like a concert hall in my car. volume is kept between 5 and 8 so that i can keep my hearing a little longer. do not regret making that decision at all. also have the remote knob hidden in the console behind the gear shift to control the bass. all factory controls are operable... had to have the installer adjust the highs because the speed alert and curfew limit alert was so loud, even choosing an option via touchscreen was loud. problem fixed... go aftermarket is what i wanted to say... sorry for the paragraph.

Nice work. I guess you won't be hauling lumber home anytime soon.

It's hinged so I can just lay it back and cover it with a little frame. I can haul just about anything ,lumber is no problem .

Wow. I don't need anything that fancy. Just want the sound to be at least as good as it is in my 2013.

nice set up... i have a downfiring box and the amps are under the hatch cover, had to take out the styro piece that is shaped like you can fit an tire in it... figuring i may need to fold the seats down at one time or other... so i left it as bare as possible back there. BTW, is that a LOC next to the sub? if so, which one?

It's the only thing I'm disappointed with, really: The Forte has the worst factory stereo I've ever heard. And I've heard some bad ones. I don't know why it's so terrible, but it's usually the fault of the speakers, as almost all factory speakers are cheaply made in order to keep the cost low. The good news is that you have a few different ways to remedy this problem.

The most basic one is to simply upgrade the speakers. Pull the old ones out, drop new ones in, boom, done. This will bring a noticeable improvement, however how much improvement you get depends on a wide variety of factors, such as which speakers you choose and even your own personal preferences.

Beyond that, you can replace the factory head unit with a more capable aftermarket model, or keep the factory unit and go with a line out converter. This will allow you to use aftermarket amplifiers with your factory head unit. I've had great results from AudioControl products, which are "active" line out converters. They work much better than the simple passive converters you can get for $15.

@ sydtoosic The LOC is buried behind the dash next to the stock head unit . The item you refer to is a Clarion MCD360 3 way crossover The amps are Rockford Fosgate 500 watt sub and a 400 watt 4 chanel . Also running Morel 6.5 components in the front and coaxels in the rear .
