i have a 2010 kia forte ex manual transmission and when im driving on either 1st or 2nd gear and it RPM's at 4000 or just above it makes like a grinding noise. i took it to dealer and they say that its normal on forte manuals. that its the noise... its rather annoying switching from 2nd to 3rd. once rpm is 4000 and i push clutch or let go of throttle it grinds. makes a loud noise.
My 2010 Koup EX 5 speed manual is fine and quiet when shifting at low rpms or high rpms. I get a clack noise once in awhile when I shove into into gear but thats about it for noise.
Funny, I have the same problem on my 6sp on my '10 SX. When above 4000 RPM, and I go to shift from 2nd to 3rd, it sometimes refuses to let me engage third after one or two attempts before finally engaging. I find this very odd...
Does it make any noise in neutral at stop when you rev it around those rpms?
hmm, i have not tried that method, but i believe it does not do it when in neutral. but i will test it when not moving, and i will disengage the gear and rev it while actually moving... and report the results

the gears dont get stuck when switching. i think only one that gives me alot of issue is the reverse gear. sometimes it doesnt catch the gear and thats when it grinds and you feel it. but when im in second, and i rev up to 4000rpm i push clutch in or just let go of throttle and i will hear a "krrrrrrrr" like scratching grinding noise but i dont physically feel anything grind and i can still easily engage the gears and not have them get stuck.. only time i know they are forced in is when i redline car...
Saturday my 2010 Kia Forte Koup EX MT, started grinding 3rd gear. It's almost as if I am not using the clutch and pushing the shifter to try and force it in. It does it shifting up from 2nd to 3rd and also downshifting from 4th to 3rd. It is in the shop this morning being looked at....I hope it isn't a long repair.
Is te noise at 4300 to 4500 it's like a chirping noise and it does it only at that time. Look at your pulley in the back and make sure it looks right I been fighting with Kia for the past 6 months on that noise and they first told me it was the exhaust shields so I removed them all and now they can seem to find the noise I tell them so I am going to take it in again so they can fix it I think it's the pulley and I'll make a video tomorrow and post it up to show you guys the noise it makes. Hopefully it will be the same noise and then we can figure out what it is and get it fixed.
