Default ECU Performance Chip???????

I was in the car with my buddy today and he was talking about an ECU chip that will boost the cars performance, hp, and torque, all that good stuff.

He said good ones go for about $600... don't know if thats true because I just googled it and found one for $70 here:
Stage 1 Performance Chip

Has anyone used one of these in your Forte?
Will it mess up the engine or void your warranty?
And where the hell would you put this 'chip?'

For that price, he is probably talking about the piggybacks. Lot's of bucks, not a lot of bang. The cheaper ones are more likely to do harm, than good.

Waste of Money! They only chips i have ever heard of doing real good are ones the tune a stock turbo.

The 70 dollar ones wont do a damn thing. I think there are a few threads about them on here.

Chip = bad. ECU re-flash or piggyback = good.
Stay away from chips.

$600 = what you pay to reflash the ecu. Not for a small chip.

My buddy's S4 has a chip available which costs several hundred, but it is to affect the a/f ratio...also a biturbo setup...never seen or heard of a chip that's worth a damn for n/a.

On a side note whoever sells those $50-$100 chips must be pulling in some bank for what appears to be nothing but a $2 circuit.
