Default Can you plasti dip engine/valve cover?

Couldn't find any threads on what people used to paint their engine cover red but I got some red plasti dip, wondering if that would stick knowing that it would get hot. If not, what can I use and can I remove it?

Check the can to see what temperatures it can handle. The engine gets pretty hot but the cover shouldn't ever really get above 200f.

I'd use engine enamel just to be safe. You can remove it, but it's a pain.

I plastidipped a section of it. just cover it in clear coat rated for the high heat... youll be fine.

But at that point, what's the point of using PlastiDip and not just High Temp Engine Enamel? You lose the functionality and point of the PlastiDip when you coat it with a hard clear coat.

Gave it popping value. it went over a black gloss high heat base coat with silver flake sprayed the plastidip over the basecoat, then sprayed the whole cover in high heat clear coat. TBH, i did it a wrong way. I was trying to see what it was going to look like, i got carried away with it. Next spring/summer i'll be sanding it all off and starting over.

The KOUP is in the plastidip. pic was taken a month after i put it back on.

Just give it a good pull. Don't worry, you won't break it.

look under the cover from the passenger side of the car. You'll see a long metal rib inside a slot on the engine block and to the front there are two(basically) ball and socket locks. I pulled up from the back of the engine bay up and a little forward and it popped off just as I thought it would break. Don't be a wimp about it.

Ok, it came right off, you could say it was a "SNAP".

You may want to use some caution when pulling. I ripped a palm size piece off of mine one day when it wouldnt unclip. So now im engine cover less because Kia says its not a warranty issue. :-/
