my koup ex just started doing this every time i put the defroster or the defroster and floor on the ac light comes on and i have the heat on.i took it in to kia they said thats normal on the car i have seen 2 forte sedan ex come threw work and they dont do that does anyone else have this problem on there car or is it just a koup thing
I can't speak for every car out there but I know some vehicles, like my Tracker, kick on the AC compressor when you put defrost on. Apparently it makes the defroster more effective. The AC light doesn't normally come on but you can hear the compressor start up.

It's normal for the AC compressor to come on when the defrost function is on(i.e. air directed to defrost mode), even with it set to warm air/heat. It says so right in the owners manual. Didn't you read that part before taking it in to the dealer? Come on!

if you read the owners manual (4-68) it tells that will help if you push the ac button on but it automatically comes on no matter what.....

That's not how I read it. In the OM it says that the ac compressor will be on in defrost mode. My Subaru is the same way. I don't like it either, because I question why it's even necessary, and the compressor being on robs power. But what ya gonna do?
Better go back with a 6pak for your poor service advisor at the dealer : )
Had a recall 2 days ago SA094 an ECM update ,operation code 090036R1 and i had check the suspension, had some tak noise on rought road and need to change the front top plates(pcs in order) but is better now anyway after they check it ,for sure was something untide on the suspension

I got my windshield coated with Aquapel at Speed Auto Glass. They do it for $24.99 for just the windshield. HUGE improvement. I rarely have to turn on my windshield wipers in the rain. It also helps with ice not sticking to the window. I would suggest this product too. For less than $30 every 6 or 9 months it does do a great job.

The a/c dehumidifies the interior of the car , blowing damp air onto a cool windshield can cause frost to flash form on the inside surface .
The transmission in my new 2010 Forte SX seems to be slipping (followed by a big jerk) between 40-50 km/h. I setup an appointment to have this fixed under warranty and they told me that unless they can replicate the problem, I will have to pay a diagnostic charge. Is it even possible to emulate a transmission slipping on the dyno? On top of all that, I brought it into a friends shop today to check on the undercoating job they did (it looked good) but the fairly heavy engine oil leak coming from the front main engine seal did not. 1200kms on it now and I am a bit perturbed.
Maybe not the thread to write this in but I have been without my SX Sedan for 4 weeks now after getting rear-ended while I was stopped at a red light. The other driver was doing the speed limit (60km/h) and didn't even start to slow down when I was hit. She was texting on a cell phone. Nobody was seriously injured except the cars. Mine has $13,000 damage to it and the trunk and rear doors won't open. Considerable damage really.
My only beef with Kia is that I've been waiting a month and the autobody shop says that they are at a standstill because they are waiting for parts from Kia. They ordered parts over 3 weeks ago and they are still waiting with no solid date in mind. They told me that Kia is usually very good and will get them parts within a few days but the holdup is probably because of the Christmas holidays. Even with the holidays, they would have been waiting 2 weeks for parts. Not too impressed as it will still take a few weeks for them to actually fix the car when the get the parts. Nice that I only had my car for 2 weeks when this happened. Now my 3 month Sirius Satellite trial will only have a month available for me to use it. I guess the positive thing is that I don't make a payment until March so at least I'm not paying for the car while it's in the shop.
oof, definitely get them to work with you on that. A faux pas like that, which is completely their fault, should lead them to give you a credit or some extra perks or something. that's just ridiculous!
Blown engine after 7000 miles. I was on the highway doing 70 mph and my girlfriend thought she heard a noise. I never heard it, but she must have been right. When I got off the interstate, and came to a stop at a red light, my RPMs dropped and the engine stalled. It wouldn't let me restart it. Car eventually restarted at the dealership, and it didn't sound too good. Once Kia authorized the work, the dealership dropped the oil pan and found lots of metal. That's where the story ends, apparently our engines have a cover so you can't see the bottom end of the engine. This all happended 2 1/2 weeks ago, and my dealership still doesn't have a new engine for me.
Lets see where do I start. I had fog in my headlights the day after i bought the car. Took it to the dealer and waited a week to get them repaired...recently found out they never replaced them, because i had the same problem (big crack in the back of the housing!!!). any ways got that fixed now after them blaming the crack on me!!!! Than i have a vibrating problem in the front end.Well i took it to the dealership and they said they balanced the they fixed the tire pressure. Than it started again and they said they took it for a test drive and only noticed normal road vibration...but it still does it...it vibrates soo bad that my radar detector bounces up and down and my seat and the petals vibrate very badly!!! so this is gonna be the third time and if they cant fix it I'm probably gonna see if I can pull a lemon law!!!Im sick of taking my brand new car (only 3500miles!!!) to the dealer every couple of weeks!!! and now my controls on my steering wheel are going nuts for my radio..if i press the up volume it goes down, if i press the mode button it puts the volume up!!!! MAN IM STARTING TO HATE THIS CAR!!!!
