Default A little more horses

I've owned my Forte SX Koupe for almost a year and I only have about 9,000 miles or 14500 KM on it, pretty happy with the performance but I wouldn't mind trying to get or find more horses out of it. I know that there is probably hundreds of different things that can be done to generate more power but what would be the best way to achieve this without hurting my warranty if possible. I do not want to spend anymore than 2,000 bucks, thanks for your time

A turbo or nitrous would void the warranty but give the highest gain. CAI and exhaust upgrade would probably be your best bet since some dealerships won't mind the addons and all dealerships would have to prove that the addons caused the fault if one occurs in order to not be covered by the warranty. Probably only looking at 20 to 30 HP gain by doing the CAI and exhaust though. ECU tuning is another mod to look at.

Will my mechanic know what you’re talking about because I don’t? If you can suggest a good site to purchase these items it would be helpful, thanks again for all your time

Turbokits.com has the (Cold Air Intake) CAI and Exhaust (larger pipe and performance muffler) mods already available for purchase. The ECU tuning can be a piggyback type from Road Race Motorsport Drivetrain : Road Race Motorsports -, Your home for Lancer, SX4, Genesis and many more which we haven't seen any performance gain dyno's on yet, or a reflash which is discussed in this thread SFR ECU Reflash coming soon for Theta and Lambda engines!

Your mechanic should understand these phrases.

Yes he will but you can install the CAI by yourself and have any muffler shop install a new exhaust!

That's a little optimistic!

15WHP and 13Ft Lbs

As per turbokits.com (Turbo-Kits.com - 2010+ Kia Forte KOUP Turbo Kits) your combined with both exhaust and CAI would be around 15hp, CAI only is 7hp. Check out all results and stats via link.

15WHP is anywhere from 20-30 HP at the flywheel, depending on drivetrain efficiency.

If you get a CAI and Exhaust, like the one Turbo Kits offer, will this just brink the car up to the 173 HP that Kia has on the Specs for the 2.4L? or will it actually go beyond 173hp?

Only reason why I ask is because the turbo kits dyno shows the 2.4 stock before mods at around 150 something I believe. Yet Kia says 173 stock.

I know in Cali is a ULEV car so horsepower is robbed big time, If I put a CAI and Exhaust it would probably just bring me up to what I am already supposed to have and nothing more. Any comments?

^^^When manufactures list HP they always list HP at the motor. Therefore when Kia says 173 stock they did not lie. 173 HP motor is about 150 approx at the wheels.

what TK says is at the wheels. what Kia claims is at the flywheel. you lose about 15% power from the flywheel to the wheels. 150 whp is a little more than 173 bhp. Now the Cali cars start off at about 150 bhp, so you're starting in a hole.

Thanks Polishmadman, so as I understand it, if I purchase the turbo kit, it should not harm my warranty
