i also have this problem i live in toronto canada and its cold...i park my car go to work and some days its starts in the cold no problem and some days it doesnt start like a choking and the lights flicker then i release the key because i dont want to hurt the ignition i try again and it starts immediately with no lag....i never had this problem before even last winter...recently my battery died because my gps fell off the glass and hit the hazard lights in the centre and my lights came on all night and killed the battery i called caa they came to boost it everything went smoothly...but now that i recall it this has been happening since that incident so perhaps its somthing to do with the battery not getting recharged fully by the alternator im no einstein but im good at observing things...last winter this never happened to me and i live in canada its freezing so im pretty sure its to do with the battery i think i will purchase a new one hope that helps

I had this happens to me when it's cold but now tht it's warm it's doing it once a month. Get in the car put the key in the fuel pump works fine I can hear it but when I go to crack it just cranks and no start. Sometimes starts and it seems like the car want to turn off all the lights go low and it takes awhile before Rpms go to normal.

Hmm, never noticed that in my SX hatch before either. I have a USB car charger and iPod cable plugged in and after I took it out to try it was the same amount of time between pushing the start button and everything coming on.

the batteries that come in our cars are not very good quality. With the weather being very odd in ny this yr we did a three week test. Basically the cold amperage on the battery is shot. It will jump start just find and stay running but if it sits to long and by that i mean over 8 hrs the risidual top end charge is gone. new battery no issue

That happens sometimes. My Koup struggles to start sometimes when I leave the switch for the fog lamp DRL mod switched on before I start the car. Other than that, there's no other obvious hiccups in the way the car starts. I have a brand new battery installed by the way.

thanks
