Ok, I turned the key to the ignition to startup today, it struggled. I know the battery and all is a-ok. Could it be that I left my usb flash drive plugged in? Because, I started it back again with the usb unplugged.. it started right up. it was weird.
i have similar problems. when i leave my cigarette lighter phone charger plugged in, it will almost never start the first time, its always the second time itll start for me. but when i take it out at night it starts right up. idk its weird
I haven't had it personally but my wife tried to give me an ulcer by calling me from north Atlanta saying that the car wouldn't start a few days ago. She was able to get it started eventually. Temp was in the mid 60's. Battery is still strong, I was thinking it had something to do with the cooler weather and the SRI.
I used to drive a car with a SRI all winter and it gets crazy cold up here. All it would ever do is idle high until warmed up.

I've noticed when it gets cold out it doesn't start as fast, and also when it is a certain angles for a while. It starts hard when I'm at my friends place, and the only thing i can think of is that his drive way is slanted.

I can vouch as well it is not the usb or cigarette lighters. Most newer cars will not run power to these if the keys are not in the ignition. It may have just been coincidence that the car started right up when you took the usb out.I would take it to a dealer but make sure the problem can be replicated of course. Unfortunately, once you get it to the dealer, it will be warmed up and probably will not happen again until it cools down and sits for a while. I hope you guys figure out what is going on soon.

There has been many posts on this "startup issue". Some Forte's were brand new, some had few 100k on them etc. At first, I leaned towards an immobilizer issue. Some it may have been. But now, I'm thinking maybe its with the ETB (electronic throttle body). For those that have had this happen, you can hear the fuel pump kick in but maybe there is no action from the ETB.
