That doesn't seem too far fetched. I calculate my mileage everytime I fill up and have been able to average 33MPG on a few occasions with my '10 Koup Auto. Now, I have filled up dozens and dozens of times so to only reach that a few times makes it somewhat rare but either way it still happened.
I took the same drive as the one where I got ~37MPG. This time I got ~25MPG(!)
Approximate speeds and terrain were the same, but temps were much lower (~27 degrees) and it was more windy (from the side) this time. Still -- a 12MPG difference? Oh well...
We hit over 11k this past week trekking to Canada and back from Maryland. We averaged 28 getting there driving around a coming home...its was the best mpgs we've gotten since original purchase last may.

'11 2.4 SX 5dr with15k on clock. Average 33mpg on daily 75 mi commute. Averaged 38 mpg on 2100 mile trip to mountainous Idaho this past summer. All calculations must be done with actual mileage/gallons in tank; the computer mpg is simply a guide. Use your trip meter at each fill up and calculate your mpg. The difficult element is to keep your right foot in check and use cruise control when possible; it can add 1 to 1.5 mpg when used consistently.

We keep a log book in the car to track fuel. She averages 23mpg on her daily commute of 20miles round trip and we actually find the computer readout to be within 1mpg everytime. The high 20's was achieved with speeds of 70-80mph with a mix of up down and flat mountain road passes and some heavy gust. Short of some miracle I never foresee us getting better than 30mpgs with the car.
I'm curious if our difference in mpg has to do with an e-throttle calibration difference?

I've had my 2011 Koup SLS (same as SX but with the 2.0L engine) for 9 months now with around 9200km's and I average every week about 8.2L/100KM with 70% city and 30% highway driving.
But when I stomp on the pedal it can shoot as high as 11L/100km but boy is it a blast driving.
Though I use 98 V-Power from Shell, might contribute to something. Have not filled it up with anything besides that, except for the starting tank when I got the car with E10 and it struggled to even get 400km on a single tank. I get 500km minimum on a single tank, quiet happy
I've gotta say that a 38MPG average is NOT normal for the 2.4L five-door. Congrats for getting that kind of milage out of your Forte. I wouldn't expect that kind of number without some serious hyper-miler tricks (dangerously over-inflated tires, pulse/glide, etc).
Over the last few tankfuls, my SX five-door has been getting ~30MPG overall on level terrain with cruise control set @65MPH and 34PSI in the tires (32MPG highway alone). Tires at the moment are 205/50 R17 Blizzaks, so I assume milage would improve slightly with the stock LS-2 all-seasons.
i have 800 miles on mine, i was averaging 22 in the city which included a decent amount of fast acceleration i am averaging 25 with normal conservative driving and i have gotten 35.3 on the highway. mix im averaging about 26.1-26.4mpgs at the moment.
'10 sx koup 6 spd m/t, mostly average 22-24 mixed. on long trips (all highway) i've gotten 34 mpg driving like a granny. for the most part i'd say i normally get about 30 highway 22 city

Yes - 51PSI is too high. If I recall correctly, the max sidewall pressure on the stock LS2's is 50PSI. Although there's plenty of safety factor engineered into such limits, a blowout isn't pretty.
