FOTM - New Rules Comment Thread

In response to user comments we are going to try switch things up for this month's (and future) contests.

The new rules are located here.

Please use this thread to comment on the new rules. The Admins will review the responses and decide how to proceed with the contest in the future.

Honestly I don't think combining is such a great idea. I don't think a forte 5 will ever win now cuz koups are so much nicer to most of this community and they'll be a lot more koups to choose from therefore not voting for the lone 5.

Nope. I think it will reduce the volume of votes. If my votes were public I would stop voting.

I also don't think combining the 3 groups is fair. Obviously Koups are going to win because they have a larger following.

I personally think to combine the Sedans and 5's together, and leave the Koups alone. I think putting all groups together isn't going to be fair to the sedans and 5's

And finally its been heard on the photos! Now people can't go and post 12635428907 pictures. LOL

As far as the photos, can basic things be done like brightness and contrast?

If you guys think the Koups are "nicer" then isn't that the point of the poll? You can vote for whatever car you think is "nice." And there has just been a lack of heavily modified sedans (with the exception of crock?) and forte 5's to begin with. Your cars have potential, maybe the koups look better 'stock', but the sedans and 5's can def pull off mods just as well.

You know what, I agree with this. There is almost zero chance for the non-Koups to win if everyone is grouped together.

The simplest and fairest way to deal with it is to group Sedans and 5's together; and Koup gets its own seperate contest.

5) Each entry is allowed a maximum of 5 photos. You are not allowed to change your photos once you enter. To enter add your photos to a post in the contest thread and they will be moved by a moderator into the main contest post (the thread originating post). Photos will be added to the post in the order of entry. NOTE: attached photos cannot be added in the proper order, cannot be categorized by contestant and will all appear at the bottom of the entry post. This will cause a disadvantage for anyone that attaches their FOTM photos. It is highly recommended that you host the photos and link to them.

i think combining them is not the greatest idea out there,

i like all the new rules except for that one

and also i think that once you have won a month, that should be it for you
like how many times do you have to win the fotm to feel satisfied, i think most people would settle with 1 win

Here it is:

Entries must be a GM Sport Compact vehicle. Any disputes as to whether a vehicle qualifies or not will be resolved by a majority vote of GMSC Staff.

You must own the vehicle you submit

You must have achieved "Apprentice" user status or be a GMSC Crew member to enter(Apprentice user status is achieved after 150 posts)

A minimum of three(3) and a maximum of eight(8) pictures must be included in your submission. These MUST include at least one underhood view(with a maximum of 2) as well as views of the front, rear and one side. This can be a front, rear and a side shot, or it can be front and rear 3/4 shots, or any combination of views (with a maximum of 4 exterior shots) Interior shots are not required but up to two(2) may be included

This is a VEHICLE competition, not a photography competition, and as such, heavily edited, HDR'd, or obviously professional quality "glamour" or action shots will not be allowed. Please represent your car truthfully with just "standard" pictures

No discussion will take place in the Entry List Thread. No quoting of pictures will be tolerated in members entry threads. Posts that quote picture will be deleted without warning or explanation.

You may enter as often as you like, if you win you may not enter for 6months or the remainder of the calendar year, whichever is longer.


Entry is done by creating an entry thread in the Vehicle of the Month forum. Simply title your thread with your username and the month for which you are entering IE: "Maven's December Vehicle of the Month Entry" Once you have done so make a post in the Entry Link Thread with a link to your entry thread. There will be no discussions in the Entry Link thread

There will be a limit of 10 entrants per month, first come, first served

A winner shall be picked in a two step process. Site wide voting will take place for two weeks following the entry period. The two vehicles which receive the most votes will then move on to Staff Judging. The vehicle which receives the most Staff votes will be the winner!

Entries will be accepted for the first week of the month (days 1-7), weeks 2 and 3 will be open for voting(days 8-21), judging will take place during week 4 (days 22-28) The winner will be announced at end of month.

The winners entry thread will be featured on the home page for the following month

obviously that would need to be tailored to this site but i didn't feel like rewriting everything lol
