I am going to be getting the sub and amp i have hooked up in my car next week...for those of you that have done this already in your koup...would you use a LOC or use an aftermarket head unit?
I have a pioneer DEH-7300bt head unit that i could possibly use
500W RMS memphis amp
memphis m-class 12
LOC would be a memphis one..not sure on the model...audio shop said it was a good one...right around $100.
I love having all of the OE extras...bluetooth music playback, aux, usb, sat radio...
But i know the pioneer will be able to be cleaner at louder levels.
price is about the same, using the LOC it would be about 25 bucks cheaper.
Defiantly head unit if you can get it all to work! I'm going through all of the troubles right now to do the LOC integration and let me say it is a B**CH! I don't know why but I can't get it to work, and stay working! So my next purchase will defiantly be a head unit! You can easily get the steering wheel control module and all of the other stuff you would need to integrate the head unit for the cost it would be for a good LOC.
I would go with the head unit, but from what I'm going to do, I'm just getting the OEM nav unit for the car and a Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.3 processor. It's pricey, but worth the money for what it can do. Although I'm sure you're not wanting to be able to adjust setting to your music like some people.

Get headunit if you can maintian full steering wheel controls (you'll need a PAC ASWC control module)
Else get LOC.
I've had both LOC then swapped out for a double din head unit w/gps. Aftermarket BT seemed better and supported audio streaming (i have 2010).
Only issue was the extra control module for the steering wheel controls cost about 75 or 80 bucks.
I believe some amps can support a direct line input (ie. splice into oem speaker wire and feed into amp no need for LOC) I am not 100% on this but I would assume its on higher model amps.
Either way go for what you think will future proof you best and that'll suit your audio needs.

In Canada theres a supplier who is selling OEM navigation systems for cheap, direct plug and play (i have not contacted him but it seems like a good price).

Just FYI those aren't the OEM ones... They may say so, but thats completely different then the one that came in my Koup. The true OEM ones come with the dials on top, and have a different interface. It might work like OEM, but its not truly OEM.
From what I have seen the dial on bottom UI system is cheap looking. I want the true OEM with dials on top for 100% integration. I found 1 on eBay but idk about it from the description. Person says they took it out of a 10 Koup and there is just to HU.

I'm about to be selling mine! lol I'm gonna do an aftermarket head unit with pretty much everything the OEM one has, but I'm more of a Car Audio buff so I need the handy dandy custom EQ & what not! lol plus I plan on doing a custom iPad InDash install soon after the HeadUnit! So if anyone is looking to get a TRUE OEM head unit I'll have mine up for grabs soon!
All of the OEM nav head units I've seen have the dial knobs on them. That's even from the KIA website. You can find the OEM nav unit on ebay for about $500-$600 depending on who you buy from.

Yeah I know what your saying, but there is a difference between some of them. Some may say there OEM, and may be OEM compatible but there knock off's. lol The true OEM's have the Dials at the top, and have a completely different interface then most of the ones on Ebay. The one's on Ebay have the dials at the bottom, and have some weird Jenson or Clarion cheap looking interface. Not trying to stir shit up, just was letting you know so you don't expect something your actually not getting.

Hey, those are not OEM units and they will not keep all your steering controls. ( Keep that in mind)

For just a sub and amp I'd go LOC if that is what you want and dont care much about the head unit. I just put an LOC in mine and was easy enough. I'm running the PAC SOEM-T and its working great and includes the remote turn on. No idea why they are quoting that much for an LOC unless that cost includes install. My LOC was $20.
