So, if I understand correctly, you don't need a line out converter to hook up a Bazooka tube to the stock stereo? Sort of a noob at this and want to make sure I have everything before I try the install...

Safety concern... Due to risk of an electrical fire (however unlikely it may be running 100Watts) The fuse is supposed to be mounted WITHIN 18" of the battery terminal. If it is not there is a possibility that a power surge could cause the wire to heat up more than the insulation jacket can handle melting the jacket and potentially grounding out your entire electrical system (Bad thing BTW). I would go back to where you had it installed and ask them to move the fuse into the engine bay closer to the battery terminal. They should do it for free because that is the way a PROPER install is done. Save your car, possibly your life.
@Dvipercop
A line-level converter is only necessary when you do not have a line out on your head unit but only have a line in on your amp. Most Bazooka tubes have speaker/high level inputs rather than line level.
@Dvipercop & caroach
Rather than risking accidentaly setting off the airbags by tapping into the wrong wire, I opted to tie in right at the rear speaker. Just for my own safety sake. The rear seat side panels come of with just a couple push clips (removed gently) and a bit of forceful but conservative yanking. there are just a few metal clips holding it in place.
@caroach
How did you tie your remote line into the 12V outlet? I couldnt figure out how to get the plug out so I canibalized a set of footwell lights to use the plug. it makes the switch just a simple plug to pull but I have one less outlet now...
I'm going to bring this thread back from the dead...
This is the exact setup I'm looking for.
I have a 2011 Sedan EX and I'm looking to fill out the low end of my driving tunes.
I like slightly thumping bass but don't want to rattle my quarter panels off so I think an 8inch Bazooka tube will work wonders.
I'm looking for a powered rig most likely the Bazooka 8" Subwoofer (BTA8100FH) which is 199.99 at BestBuy.ca right now.
So judging from this thread I can use my stock headunit, cut into a rear speaker wire (without loosing that rear speaker) and run the wire back to the tube in the trunk...
Does anyone have pictures of this setup? or pictures of where you've run your wires/ how you hid them?
Also, I DON'T need a LOC with this specific woofer despite what most "stock stereo + bass" threads on this forum tell me...
yeah thats the exact sub i bought (but at futureshop lol)
yeah you can totally run the stock head unit, the bazooka has a "plug n play" harness and it just connects to the headunit no problem (or so the install guys told me) they had my car wired and ready in under 45 min.
the other shop here in my hometown wanted to cut into the rear speakers but would NOT guarantee they would not scratch the plastic as they had no idea how to take the car apart and i did not want to take the risk.
as for the loc, you should not need it. I only brought the bazooka tube in its box to the install place and they said it had everything they needed to run it off the headunit. i never bought any "extras"
i dont have a pic of my set up but its up against the rear seat and you have sooooooooooooooo much trunk space left, so not an issue.
hope this helped
has anyone just mounted an single or even a double 8 inch sub into the rear deck of your SX Koup? I measured and it could actually fit quite easily! Just wondering if anyone else has done/thought about this setup.... I just got my Koup on Monday and it def needs some more bass and dynamat on the drivers and passengers doors
After mulling over regardless of whether to build a container, order an amplifier, or select a powered subwoofer, I determined the latter. Used to do not want the annoyance of running speaker cable and amp wire across my cab. After reading regarding the Bazooka and the F. A NEW. VERTS. CAPITAL T. control, I decided that is the best option.
This isn't easy but it is damn sexy!
For Forte 5 owners: Custom Sub Installation
But to help give Koup owners an idea of what you could make under your cover.
Alright guys/gals, if you are not totally crazy about car audio but would like a little "oomph" without looking like the douchebag at the red light, then i recommend getting a bazooka tube. I went to Ultra Audio Sound in mississauga since the guys here in K-town are idiots and gave me the run-around. I just have the 8 inch powered sub and it will give you more then enough bass for your mids/lows without rattling your car. It blends in really well with the stock components.
just an idea for you guys who want a "mild" upgrade.
I have been using Ultra Auto Sound since they opened. They are the only shop that works on my cars. 100% top notch and if you have any issues they are very accomodating Said is the owner, hes a good guy.
This has been a VERY helpful thread. Thanks guys ) Just joined today & pick up my new Corsa Blue Forte Koup SX tomorrow, Automatic with sunroof & spoiler, VERY excited Thanks Again
this is exactly what ive been looking for!! more bass without going over board. i dont want to replace all my stereo but need just a little more bump in the trunk without rattling everything,
