A friend of mine had an htc evo and durring a trip plugged it in via usb and it read it and put all his songs on the stereo to control it. I cant get my android phone to do the same it just keeps saying it cant connect what the hell. Has anyone figured out how to get this to work?
I would think you will have to dock it as a storage drive when it is connected via usb, so that the stereo sees it as the USB device for playing music from.
As mentioned, you need to plug the phone in and then allow mass storage to be accessed. Also, the radio does not download and store the songs. It plays them from the phone.
Most radios prior to 2011 don't BT stream audio (i.e. they don't have A2DP)
Yes i know it doesnt actually store the songs thats just how it came out when i wrote it lol. I wanted to try using usb because i dont like having to pick up my phone everytime i want to change albums and such. I always use bluetooth as is. On another note can anyone reccomend replacement speakers for the doors that put out more bass? and is anyone getting some rattling from base? i think its coming from the little screw covers inside of the handles of the door by the window controls

^^^^ I can sign off on this statement. I have the 2010 Sedan and I have to plug directly in. The wifes 2012 Sonata works with BT beautifully. . .

I am having the very same problem with my GS2, even though the phone is set on USB storage. Unfortunately I have a 2010 Koup which at that time did not came with BT so I don't have much choice. Any one solving this issue would be of great help...

For me, it's some times finicky. The radio detects the USB, I tap the screen on the phone to allow USB access and then... nothing.
Unplug and try again. Allows USB access and then try switching from USB to radio and back to USB.
Do you have a lot of files on the phone? If so, it might take awhile to index them (I think it does this... not sure). Give it a few minutes to see if that works.

I have 2010 SX and an Samsung Galaxy S2. I am computer tech and have been through the menus and the options extensively. I can not access as USB storage(not compatible) also BT playing not an option with my flavour of stereo. The only way I can play music from my S2 is from my headphone out to the Forte AUX port under the console. Last week when I took my car in for service I got a SX Soul and BT d it up and it even asked me if I wanted to used my phone to play music, On the phone under BT devices shows it can play phone sound and music media. That icon is not present when connected to my Forte. GO Figure!!!

So how do I set my phone to "USB mass storage device"?
I'm not sure what you are asking or what you are trying to do, other than plugging the phone into the USB port to play music. If this is it, simply plug it in and when the phone prompts you to allow USB access, allow it. The radio will then have access to the SD card.
