Dealer install here!! About 500$ but was part of the deal when buying the car!
Funny thing is that when you remove the key, the engine is still running just like a turbo timer!!!

BTW if you have an SX in Can. you'll love the remote start/auto climate combo!! Makes wonder in winter..... add the butt heater and you're close to paradise!!

Check out the dronemobile system .... The features make the viper smartstart look like a toy. Remote kill, gps tracking, geofencing, curfew, maintenance reminders, also does your vehicle’s battery voltage, temperature, alarm status, speed and more.

Key Features | Smartphone Control | GPS Tracking | DroneMobile.com

Alarm, remote start and drone module installed on a manual running me $700.

I was going With the smartstart until I saw this demo on a car

Will come in handy this winter!

$90 Ultrastart + an afternoon in the shop = toasty koup on winter mornings. Kinda wishing I wouldve gone with a text-to-start system but I dont think I could justify it just for the novelty aspect.

Quite expensive if you want to get all the features. I picked up Smart Start a month ago and it's really nice. If you want just the "basic" features, then they are relatively the same.

Now it seems most of you folks are up there in the Great White North (eh!), but here's my two cents...

I have an SX Sedan with an auto trans, and I bought the KIA Factory Remote Start from Gary Rome KIA (you can search it, or find it here: Kia Parts, Accessories, Auto Parts, Accessory, Guaranteed Best Price - Kia Accessory Store).

It cost me under $300US, and I installed it myself. It works well, and also provides a hood/passenger compartment/trunk alarm, as well as pull the key out and run in the store keep-run.

Having used it during our blazing hot summer (95F-plus!) and having the air already set before I got in the car was a blessing.... and come winter, the heater and rear-window (and side-mirror) defrosts will be just great!

Anyhow... that's what I did....

Yes for all the "extras" it's $100 more per year. But it's nice that the option is there. I'm going to get it the first year and see how much I use it etc. And again in the grand scheme of things... It's a $100 over a year. Like $8 a month.

I'm looking at the viper smart start system to maybe be installed in the next month or two before the cold winter here in NY but need verification becuz they wont email me back and it's not on their website. Can the viper smart start system (500$ one) be used on manual transmission? I rly want this one but obv need it to work for manual?!

I would start calling shops in your area and ask them. I had 2 local shops tell me they won't install on MTs due to insurance and liability. But i found one who does and they are a compustar "pro" shop.

Thanks beast but is the smart start system even ABLE to be installed on a stick shift becuz whenever I look for remote starters, they are always specified as "for manual transmission"
