Arrow Mobile App Discussion

I saw another Mobile thread, and felt the discussion was not really going anywhere, but do feel as someone who would use it, it is a great discussion. A mobile app, with my experience as a developer, is the wrong way to go right now, just due to how many devices there are out there, let alone just the resolutions you would have to support for blackberries and droids...

I think, though, there should be a mobile site developed that would allow for easier browsing of threads and such. Site admins, you can check out something like this:

Mobile/Cell Phone Style - vBulletin.org Forum

At least support easier browsing on mobile devices. If someone wants to have a pet mobile project, so be it, but honestly, with how many phones support web browsing, vs, device compatibility, it really isn't worth going that route.

As long as I get something to browse the site easier on my droid without constantly zooming in and out I'll be happy.

Whatever is easier for the Admins is my vote, but most of the time, its the ad revenue they worry mostly about. Can't get that stuff very well from Mobile Sites. Need a solution that still gives ads

Or just do a mobile site/app for an upgraded site membership, so ads are needed. Tapatalk is great and not at all needless. But you're entitled to your opinion. I'd be happy either way with a mobile app or mobile site.

I agree, Tapatalk is pretty friendly. Nearly all of the vBulletin forums I'm on use it. I was surprised this one hasn't implemented it.

Needless?? It's only needless if you don't care about viewing the forum on a PDA.

We so have a mobile app available for the site. There is a announcement located at the top of every forum when you enter it.

Uhhh ya that covers about 40% of mobile users....what about android/wp7? This is where you turn on tapatalk until you support more than one platform.

So there has been no additional consideration on supporting mobile phones other then iphones? As mentioned what about supporting the vast majority of phones instead of just a minority?

TapaTalk does support ad banners. It also makes reading the forum _much_ easier.

I made a thread on this already. The app they use is supported by android phones but I also stated it basically sucks and they should use tapatalk. Didn't get much of a response though. Sucks cause I like this forum a lot but spend most of my time / posts on the other ones

Agreed on Tapatalk. Very user friendly. Makes uploading pictures instantly from phone much easier too.
