Default DYNO Intake, CAT Pipe & Exhaust

Here is the DYNO from Friday overlaid on the baseline, oh and we took the highest baseline not some dumbed down baseline to make our numbers look better

As you can see there are gaines across the board with torque gaines close to 25 Ft Lbs in some areas and and HP gaines of 20 WHP. The dip around 4000 - 5000 is almost gone as well. We are going to continue testing a few more ideas and then we'll pull the parts off, take pics and post vids of the DYNO runs!

Stay Tuned!

Yeah, I stayed slightly ahead most of the run with a Type-R Integra on a freeway on-ramp to the top of third gear.

He pulled a little near the bottom of 3rd gear but was able to hold him off after I hit the upper part of 3rd gear. The auto trans is useless for racing shortly after the upshift to 4th at these power levels. The car is geared for ECO! Arrgh!

I wonder if there will be final drive kits for the car. A more agressive final drive gear set would make a huge difference in 0-60 and freeway manners!! This applies to both 6MT and Auto equipped cars which are geared differently by design.

It is true--the change would incur a minor MPG penalty and would increase cruise RPMs on the freeway. I have experienced the difference first hand on how proper gearing plays a huge role in overall performance.

A Forte Final Drive Gear kit could "wake" the car up as an off the line threat to cars currently out of it's reach--like the Civic SI. It would also give it better manners on the freeway when dropping down a gear to pass and rev faster!

It is really strange that Kia made this mistake with the 6 speed transaxle in the Forte . My only previou experience with Korean fwd cars is with Hyundai , specificaly Tiburons . My 99 SE Tib had relatively long (read lazy) gearing but it was only a 4 spd auto .The 04 Tib however was a whole different animal . The v6 has a close ratio 6 speed with a 4.43:1 final drive ratio . Even with 5th and 6th gears being overdrive ratios (<1.0:1) and the engine reving @ 3K rpm at 70mph in 6th gear it got 30+ mpg on the highway . The v6 Tib has incredible torque steer in 1st and 2nd gear however because of the aggressive gearing maybe that made Kia shy away .

Don't worry the turbo we are developing will really wake her up and then you will be happier with the taller gears!

By the way we did a run in 4th gear and hit 130MPH on the DYNO in 4th!

Oh yeh , fwd + short gears + boost = serious traction problems , especially without a lsd .

Here is a vid of a s/c'd Tib having Dunlop issues :

WOW!!! the base w/15% dt loss puts it almost spot on with Kia. and mods push it over 210. WOW!!! That's not even with a turbo.

Exactly ! fwd + no lsd + 442whp = instant orgasm

comment : he didn't blow the engine , he just bounced it off the reflashed ECUs' 8000 rpm revlimit .

I thought you are in Cali and they are in CT . How are you gonna do this ?

I hope they can reflash the oem ECU otherwise it's piggyback time or there are a few standalone options .

Are they going to ship a kit to you , then you install and test it for them ? Will they supply you with an engine management solution or are they looking for you to solve the tuning issue ? Or do you ship the car to them and they do the install and dyno tuning ?
