16 mpg city?

The estimated MPG for 6 sp manual is 22/32
The average mpg is 15.7 when I drove about 400 miles in city.
Do I have a speed meter panel problem or
does my car really drive 15.7mpg?

Not necessarily.

what is youre location?
what type & grade of gas did you fill with when you drove the 400 miles?
how long have you had the forte?
how many miles on it?
Ouch there are a few things that could affect that, one of them being driving habits. Not to disrespect your driving habits or anything. :) Just a possibility. But that is a pretty low number, there is the possibility of something else being wrong as well for sure.

15.7MPG:eek:
I drive 70/30 city/highway with an heavy foot an I average 26MPG.
Unless you beat the crap out your Forte, I think it has a problem!!!!
maybe your shifting high in the rpm range If you are theres part of low mpg!
I drive 99.9999% in the city.. have been logging fuel consumption..

I'm averaging 18-19 MPG.. when I drove 100% on the hwy for a road trip.. I did 33-34 MPG..

The numbers have to be an average over 100 drivers..
jeez i get 16 mpg on my car and i'm boosted lol
Don't forget - when comparing miles per gallon - that the Canadian (Imperial) gallon is a fair bit larger than the US gallon. For example, a car that gets 20 miles per US gallon would be getting approx. 24 miles per Imperial gallon.

Matemorh: your 26 mpg would be 21.6 in US gal.
gwildor: your 19 mpg would be 15.8 in US gal. and your 34 would be 28.3 in US gal.
I get 19mpg at 99% city driving with my CAI and romping it a lot. 2.0L 5 speed manual.
around 37mpg on 100% highway cruising at reasonable speed.
Not necessarily.

Los Angeles, CA
91 Octane gas,
I only drove 400 miles for 2 month now.
my driving habit is pretty good
i never drive crazy, i shift on 2.5 rpm
kerssing, first if you feel something is not right with youre car take it to youre dealer.

Also, not sure where youre buying youre gas from, but hopefully youre not buying the cheapest swill you can find.

I recommend finding a quality gas station and 87 octance or 89, don't need 91 on these engines.
400 miles means your engine is burning fuel excessively still since it is quite broken in yet.
In LA so your probably stopping and idling too much while checking out all the hot skimpy bikini clad hotties.
With the 6-speed transmission, I would assume it would get better mileage than my 5-speed (auto), but the 5 must have a taller top gear or something. I have not had a tank less than 26 mpg and that was in the stop-and-go traffic in-and-around LAX (my normal is 33mpg along the 91 and 57 freeways). Unless you are launching off the line, red-lining your shifts and avoiding 6th gear, i imagine you should be getting better mileage than that.

If you're asking this, does that mean you are taking the approx reading that the car is telling you from the cluster info and that it says 15.7? Or are you calculating based on a fill up and mileage comparison?

I do about 70city/30highway and I got 24.45 mpg (US gal) with fairly gentle driving and shifting on my last tank.

My dealer told me 91 or 95, but 95 preferred for the engine! And mine's a 1.6!

So, I just calculated MPG for the first time and I get 22 MPG city, but it's perfectly fine given the huge traffic jams that form here. 1+ hour for 11 km commute...

I know. Third world country.
i beat the snot out of mine on a daily basis and i ame getting 21-22 mph all day your mgs sound low!!!
