My 2014 EX 2.0 GDI has developed a very similar rod knock at 69,995 miles. Luckily I have a second vehicle so it’s been sitting since. Kia up here wants $8,000 to do the work... I’ve run full synthetic in it since I bought the car and changed it every 5,000 miles. I’ve talked to three other people in my area that’s had the exact same thing happen to their Hyundai/Kia GDI engines too. Doesn’t seem to be as common of a issue as the 2.0T/2.4s but it’s common enough I wish they’d recall it...
