I was replying to two posts about the 2.0L engine, not your 1.6L turbo.
You’re a real tough guy driving an economy car thinking it’s a performance car. Let me know when you buy a real performance vehicle.
I have 5.0 foxbody for a real higher performance car. Lol. Funny how my Forte GT on E40 JB4 tuned is beating up the V6 mustangs and V6 Camaros, keep up with the modern V8s stock water/meth injection is next. Paid far less for my car and mods compared of the cost of their v6 and 8s. You think 4 cylinder turbo cars cant do anything well you need to learn alot lol. There 1.6ts on stock blocks with 300WHP -400WHP on a turbo upgrade gapping v8s lol.

Ooooohh! You can beat V6 Mustangs and Camaros. I’m so impressed!!!
A Ford Fox body Mustang fan.
As for less money you’re full of it again. You could purchase a used Corvette right now for less than your Forte was when it was new and stock. And in stock condition that Corvette would run circles around all your cars.

A Ford Fox body Mustang fan. That explains the stupidity.
Go fuck yourself asshole.
Again your this post proves my point of lack of knowledge you have on 4 cylinder turbo cars and what this platform can do. Your Foxbody comment is lol. The body alone on the fox is a great platform to drop multiple engines in example 2jz turbo and LS turbo and heavily used on track and street. Go call those ppl stupid at a track / street and see how far u get lol. I have plenty of options go with foxbody.

While I may prefer V8 RWD cars (real ones not Foxbodys) my best friend from high school has a AWD Eagle Talon TSi that will smoke all your cars. So yeah, I know what 4-cylinder turbos can do. But I also know if you used that same technology on a V8 you get even better performance. Like the 1,200-Hp turbo LS V8 in my co-workers Olds G-body.

You prefer V8 but drive/own only 4 cylinders and possibly a 6. Lol. Maybe you should trade in ur cars for a v8 and join thier forums instead. If i used the same technology on a V8 i can buy 2 1/2+ of my car cost car. The car itself , cost of the mods ,labor, tuning to achieve 1200hp. I agree the talon is a great car. Again you sounds like u never own anything like u posted above, spent the money, done the work, and really get hands on knowledge. All we see in ur post is friends and buddies. Lol. Just a wannabe with google copy paste and friends/buddies guy. Just the profanity spewing out in ur text is lol and definitely tells others you are just another scum forum warrior lol. You must be great in FB pages lol.

Holy Cow! I didn't realize 93 octane would cause this kind of "misfire"!

Haha, I see what you did.

Just put what grade fuel Kia recommends. Will you get better performance with 93 octane? Probably but will it be noticeable, probably not.

Alright well, that was fun. Thread has been cleaned up, let's get back on topic, please.
Fun? Not really. Maybe just get rid of the problem and then never have to deal with it again. Sending nasty PMs to someone doesn't sound like fun to me.

Oh you got one of those too?

I don't understand, he's not arguing from a position of strength.

I have gained 57 whp from stock with one mod. To get more than that from a traditional V8 would take nitrous oxide. Nothing wrong with that as it makes similar gains with the 1.6T -

The problem comes from trying to move nearly 4000 lbs of metal. When the Forte comes in around 3000 lbs.

Remember: 10 hp = 100 lbs = 1 tenth = 1 mph (1/4 mile)

So he would have to make more than 250 hp with his current SBC build and additional 100 hp on top of that. What he doesn't know is that forced induction, especially turbocharging makes nitrous more efficient.

First it's doubtful his Nova even makes that with the engines mild spec sheet when considering the accessories, automatic transmission, driveshaft, rear end housing and axles.

This is all off topic and I didn't drag it there. The original post was from a GT owner, it's the 2.0L owner that derailed it making it off topic, not understanding that you'll see zero or any benefit off anything higher than 87 octane. The GT with the turbocharged engine is a different kettle of fish. In your manual (if you own a GT) it say "87 octane or HIGHER". Knowing how OE's get their rating with performance vehicles they used the best fuel available, since the majority of the country has access to 93 octane or RON 98 overseas.

The Pro'Ceed GT makes 204 hp overseas.

Even though the new 2021 Elantra N-Line has the new Smart Stream engine it still rated at 201 hp

As I've said before this type of performance hasn't been available to the Hyundai/Kia community until recently so the majority of it's ownership base is inexperienced. That's not a knock but it allows others to play on your ignorance, just be aware of that.

Sorry for the delay I've been at the lake all weekend, quite a thread for my question lol.

So I did take this to the dealer when the CEL was on, they had it for 3-4 days, couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. They kept saying bad fuel, too much alcohol. They changed the plugs, put 87 octane in and it shut off. After a few fill-ups with 93 octane it came on again, and the next fill I used 87 octane and it shut off.
The reason I'm putting 93 octane in - it's cheaper here than 87, and if my car performs the same or even has a hint of better performance I'm happy to use the cheaper. My wife has an infinti q50 3.0t - we fill it with the same fuel have for a couple years, no issues. My mother has a Kia Soul or whatever those hamster mobiles are, she fills with it too - no issues (she doesn't have the turbo though, I believe the 2.0).
Not sure what to do - I will try another station with higher octane fuel and see what happens

Now I think it's the gas you are purchasing. Doesn't make sense for the CEL to set - still would like to know what code they are reading!

I suspect that if your "93" fuel is cheaper than 87, it has a very high alcohol content, which will throw a CEL on a car that's not tuned for it (the O2 sensor readings will be outside the "normal" range the car is looking for). A normal 93 octane fuel, which is significantly more expensive than 87, should work fine and may provide a small performance improvement with the 1.6T.
