I was looking for the gear ratios of the 6 speed manual in the 2011 Forte Koup EX.

The reason I ask is because I find there is very little difference between 5 and 6 gear in my car (about 200 RPM, running around 300RPM at 100 km/h in 6th.). I find it weird 5 and 6 would have such a small difference in ratios episcally since 6 gear is supposedly for highway cruising.

Once you register go to "service Info" and hit the drop down. click on Forte, click on your year and engine...then click on manual transaxle, information, specs, and all the data on ratios will appear...LoL!

Like this (but looks better on the Kia site...LoL!):
Engine type
Gasoline 2.4
Manual transaxle type
M6GF2
Gear ratio
1st
3.267
2nd
1.931
3rd
1.696
4th
1.276
5th
0.027
6th
0.829
Reverse
3.588
Final gear ratio
4.063(1,2,R)/ 2.955(3~6)
T/M oil capacity※

FYI: 2010 and 2011 show same gear ratios.

I think your missing a 1 in your 5th gear.

Yes there is a difference -- they don't appear to be the same tranny.

The SX 6 spd has different gearing AND has two differential ratios: 4.063:1 (1,2, R) and 2.955:1 (3, 4, 5, 6).

The EX 6 spd uses one differential ratio (4.333:1)

The EX will indeed cruise at a higher RPM because the final drive ratio in 6th with the SX 6 spd tranny is 2.449:1 (0.829 X 2.955) while the final drive ratio with the EX 6 spd tranny is 2.742 (0.633 X 4.333)...for acceleration I'd prefer the 2.0's 6 speed over the 2.4's!
