2012 2.0 M/T REAR (LEFT) MAIN OIL SEAL

Purchased car w/ 57K miles, love it! Did engine and tranny oil change at 60K mi. At 60.6K engine oil is dripping from lower bell housing vent holes. According to paperwork, clutch was replaced at 57K mi, just before purchase. Suspect rear main oil seal is root cause of clutch replacement. Pffffft, buyer beware.

Will try Lucas oil seal first.

For rear main seal, understand need to remove subframe, tranny, clutch and flywheel.

Questions:

1. Could this be anything else? Oil pressure sender?
2. Does oil pan need to be removed to replace oil seal?
3. Could this be related to a bigger problem, lower end bearings, shavings in oil or something Kia might have on recall?

Thanks in advance... DCS

Are you sure you didn't just simply put in too much gear oil and it's the spilled stuff dripping off the engine? Did you notice a leak BEFORE you changed the gear oil? If not, that's a strange coincidence and I don't believe in coincidences.

Thanks Chuzz-

Transaxle took exactly two quarts of oil as per specification and it overflowed slightly out the fill hole. I think I will dye the engine oil to verify the leak is engine oil. Could be either engine oil or gear oil dripping from the bell housing lower holes. There is a plastic inspection cover on the bell housing, probably should peek in there too.
