Hello! I had my car into a local kia dealership. And they said I need sway bar links.
Have any of you changed these before and is it hard to do?
I'm also wondering if there are 2 on the front or only 1? I have looked them up on several auto parts sites and can not figure out if I need 1 or 2.
Thank you all in advance, I am a newbie, haha.

You need 2. There is one on each side.

It's not an overly difficult job. The most difficult part is probably that the bolts are often really difficult to remove due to rust/corrosion.

Hey kheibel65,

I recently did mine and although I did purchase some OEM sway bar links for my 2013 Kia Forte Koup, I wanted adjustable ones because I lowered my koup. The OEM ones were still hitting the sway bar going over bumps because my car is lowered. By no means do you need to get the aftermarket one that I got, but they are only $58 and you can adjust them. They've been on the car roughly 8 months and I've had zero issues. The OEM replacement was $30. Little tip - When you loosen both bolts and then take the sway bar off, you can jack up the brake assembly if needed to get the new sway bar link in. Definitely helps!

Picture of the OEM replacement. Note the nut, as well as the allen wrench hole in the screw. When your tightening the nut, you will need an allen wrench to put in to stop it from turning.

This old shade tree mechanic did my own on my 2011 Forte EX. The hardest part of the job was lifting the whole front end so I could work on both sides at once. I saw on a YouTube video that removing top nuts on both sides, then rotating the sway bar down, makes reaching the lower nuts tremendously easier. And they were right. I wasted a huge amount of time and swearing trying to do all of one side first. I used cheap parts from A-Premium. I think the pair cost about $23.

What other mods, upgrades, diy, car goodies are on your 1st gen Koup?

Since your lowered, have you experienced constant front end scraping? My Koup is always scaping front end & isn't lowered. OEM factory ride height & suspension.

I end up flap disking the scrapes & gouges smooth, remove any forming rust & spray paint. When about to drive onto any driveways. I enter at an angle as if I'm severely stanced like a clapped out honda. Even my wife reminds me "angle, angle, sidways"

Are you on BC coilovers?
