2014 Kia Forte Water Leak

My Kia is getting water damage all over the back seat bottom, and the lower half of the back of the seat where it meets the bottom. Me and my fiancé lifted the seat up and the foam is also soaked but we still couldn’t figure out why, The ceiling, doors, floors, back deck, all dry, the seat is the only thing with this damage . Thank you in advance for any tips you may have.

Have you been leaving the car unlocked at night?

I would suspect that the seal around the rear windshield is leaking. Either that or what ForteGT2 said. Does it smell like urine?

You say it's an old, known issue, but you don't say what the issue is. Do you not recall? That would have been easier for all of us.

Search found a known water leak into trunk. Haven't found one for leak on back seats.

Can't seem to find one for water intrusion:

This seems like a close hit. Water gets into the trunk and seeps onto the back seats, related to Forte GT2's post. Appears to be taillight is the culprit.
Kia Forte Questions - Water leaking? - CarGurus

From Forte GT2's link:
I had my local KIA dealer look at it and they discovered the backside of the left tail lamp assembly (the one fitted to the trunk lid, NOT the car body) had a hairline crack in it and was allowing water to enter & pool up in that tail lamp. When the trunk lid was lifted open, the water would then drain out of tail lamp assembly through the bulb socket, run down the trunk lid liner and exit through a small opening next to the left trunk lid arm, dripping water inside my trunk.
The dealer replaced my driver's side trunk mounted tail lamp assembly for FREE under warranty, which fixed my problem; no more water leakage.

Check the integrity of your tail lamp seal as well as look for cracks. Hoping it's something as simple as this.

For sure it's water that's leaking into and pooling in the trunk and then splashing on the backseats when braking/accelerating.

I'd pull the trunk liner/trim and spray a hose on it and look for leaks. Probably tail light gaskets or trunk gasket/weather stripping.

So, I'm guessing that Veronica isn't coming back to find a solution.

Is this where those thin, clear, silicon bumpers from 3M come into play? Put one or a couple to absorb the vibration/rattle.

⭐⭐ I'm totally new to the Kia Forte LX world. Last week I bought a friend's 2014 KIA. Well the other day I spent 8.5 hour's detailing Everything. I had the white mold in trunk on several layers and the seat's had old wet stains that look like your's . I looked and looked and found that the weeping holes on trunk lid were all gonked up . You'll see little black rubber piece in the middle of that rubber piece is a hole which is what allows water to drain out. I simply cleaned the rubber pieces and stuck toothpick in them and they drain great also the other issue was a one of the 2 rubber grommets in very bottom of truck was out of place rolling around so that was a source of water damage as well. They're are weeping holes I think 3 in each of the door's as well that should be kept clean. It's all super clean, smells great. Looks nearly new. My friend was a hospice nurse for 30 years she had no clue about the water damage or that none of her steering wheel controls worked. Or that the driver side airbag light has been on for year's and that is a testament of dedication. She had much bigger fish to fry... I really hope this helps. I couldn't figure out how to attach pic's of weeping holes and trunk area sorry about that. It's literally the cheapest easiest fix EVER!!!

Where exactly are the “wheeping holes” located that you’re referring to? The trunk lid?

Around trunk lid you'll see black little grommet things that have a little hole in the middle. The Kia Forte LX I have all those holes were gooped up
