Fascinating....... I cannot believe this is an issue but am getting an education..... This post/answer was the best answer I have found and is reassuring that I didn't really screw it up... here's what happened... I have a 2015 Forte... just turned 50,000 miles.... we're old... don't go too far from home etc... that being said, the battery was OEM and nine years old.... It still is not failing but I didn't want to push the issue and AC Delco batteries were on sale at Menards... bought the correct one, and waited until this month to install it.... that was two days ago now.... started replacing batteries since 1968 and had to watch a You Tube video to verify the procedure.... and it went like clockwork/intuitive until I got to the last step.... which was to tighten the 10mm nut on the positive post to secure it.... yes, there was some corrosion... and I cleaned that up the best I could.... tightened the nut and yet, the clamp on the post was "snug" but not really "tight" like it should be.... If I pulled hard enough and wiggled the clamp, I am pretty sure it would come loose..... so I loosened the nut again and tried to figure this thing out... reinstalled the clamp on the post and cranked it down the best I could so it was again, SNUG...... and decided that maybe this is the way it should be? I closed the plastic cover and we have driven it for a couple days and a few trips with no problems...... if it works, don't fix it????? Why are the replacement parts so expensive? Please advise.... and thanks....
