My wife and I purchased (2) 2016 KIA's She of coarse got the optima and I got the Forte. I have to tell you I'm very displeased with the Forte. Not only its a very cheaply made car when comparing it to the OPTIMA but I have had some issues with it as well.
The main issue and concern of mine is when you start the car front of car will shake or feels like it rocks. I know it sounds weird but its the only way I can describe it. It doesn't happen every start up but its most of the time with or without the AC on and after start up it seems to idle fine.
I took it in to be looked at and they said there was nothing wrong with it. Their head mechanic can out and saw what I was talking about and said don't worry about that it won't hurt the car! He said unless KIA comes out with an computer update I would have to just deal with it? He didn't explain in detail what was the exact cause and said souls and forte seem to do this?
Really! The car has less than 5000 miles on it and I have own beaters that started smoother. If anyone experiences the same issue please let me know or know why my Forte is doing this. At this point I dnt know what to do. I do know if I could get out of the car I would but since Im sorta stuck with it I would like this issue resolved.

I think this is the case of husband jealous because wife has a nicer car than him.

I shopped for both Forte and Optima and the build quality on both cars are just about the same. The car will shake after a cold / hard start. If it shakes a lot due to spark plug misfire, it will throw a code and you will get a check engine light. Another possible reason it shakes a lot can be due to oil viscosity.

Actually I driven Subarus and the engine shakes a lot when it is cold.

My Wife's Forte does the same thing, only on a cold start though. After driving it a little bit it's not noticeable at all. I guess it's just a part of how it runs while it's still in open loop mode, until the cats can get up to temperature and the ECU can take the O2 Sensor readings into consideration. I don't even think my wife notices it. It's only a slight shake though.

If this cold-start roughness ever gets worse and/or a P200A code is set, that would be symptomatic of a VCM issue. If you DIY, it's possible that a cleaning of this part would resolve the problem. However, don't bother asking a stealership to clean a VCM, because they wouldn't know what you're talking about (they would however be happy to replace the VCM for $500 or so).
