I'm looking to install an aftermarket deck: Is it possible to just plug in the stock antenna for the XM/Sirius of the car and avoid the aftermarket magnetic antenna that sticks on the roof with the aftermarket tuner kit? This new stereo is "XM Ready" FWIW.

Q2: The stock stereo would load all satellite channels EXCEPT the MLB game stations. Is there a licensing problem between KIA and MLB??

If your OEM radio had/has XM/Sirius already, I would assume yes you'd have a higher chance of being able to plug and play since the receiver will already be built into your OEM antenna. If it did not, you wouldn't have the receiver and you'd need that magnetic antenna/eyesore.

Thanks all - We already did use Crutchfield to buy the following. I'm just trying to plan ahead in HOPES that we won't need that little rooftop magnet in the external XM/Sirius kit.

2nd question remains about the MLB radio contract not "playing ball" w/ Kia.

1st question remains too, if anybody's done this or has proof of a known OEM XM antenna plug up in there.

When I had my SiriusXM I mounted the magnetic antenna on the rear package shelf under the rear window. Apparently, while the satellite signal does not go through metal, it will go through glass.

My ears couldn't tell if the signal was degraded.

A friend with a hatchback that had no rear package shelf put the antenna on the dashboard underneath the windshield.

Makes for a very easy installation. Just hide the antenna wire under the carpet.
