Hello everyone. I have searched all over multiple forums and have not found the location for the block heater on this motor. This led me to grab my borescope camera and go on the hunt for well over an hour. The result is the location of this block heater port!! It is located on the right side of the engine, by the battery and air box. It is almost directly below where the radiator hose attaches to the motor.

So you will be installing a block heater and taking pictures of the job? :D
I remember discussing block heaters on the 2010 Fortes - but I don't remember anyone following through.

I didn't even know block heaters were still a thing to be honest... They were all the rage when I was younger, but I don't see many people with them anymore. Haven't had one in over 20 years and I never had trouble starting my car, not even in the -34C (-29F) mornings. I ensure my battery is in good condition and I'm using a quality synthetic oil. Sure, it sounds like a dying cow turning over very slowly, but she catches every time. :D

Back in 2010 there was a Canadian asking where the block heater went. We couldn't even find a part number for one in the States but he had the Kia accessory block heater. Same location - imagine that.

I can't find the old posts using the advanced search.

I think you linked that thread yourself here:

It's not a 2010 tho. The only 2010 discussion I found was this:

Even though they aren’t necessary, I think block heaters are still helpful. Driving diesels all day, a block heater makes a huge difference when starting in the morning. It still helps gasoline cars but not as much. Main benefits are less cold starting wear and a quicker hot cabin! I would still like to fit a block heater to my Forte one day.

Fun fact for everyone, the block heater does not fit.. there is a stainless steel line going to the turbo directly above this hole and does not provide adequate space to fit one.

Adequate space to fit, or adequate space to install it? If it's the latter, could you remove the turbo line, install it, and then reinstall the turbo line?

I see someone posted the picture of the heater. If you look at the end with the plug, you see it is almost twice the diameter of the part that actually goes in the block. This would sit right below that pipe and not allow it be reinstalled. If someone were to get fancy with a grinder or a mill it just might be enough then.

That explains why the companies don't list a block heater for the 1.6T.
