2023 Kia Forte thump noise after starting and driving 5mph on every start up.

What engine and trans?

Pretty sure he has the 2.0 CVT. My gt-line and LXS both do this too. I have not worried about since it seems like a normal thing with this vehicle.

Must me a CVT thing. My 2.0 6MT doesn't experience this

Been hearing this on mine (2021) since new every time going from reverse to drive, almost sound like a bad shock, as usual dealer found nothing wrong

My 23' Gt-line does not make any noise.

I found mine only does this if i'm on a incline and I don't use the parking brake. When I reverse I, press brake, drop parking break, shift into reverse, left off break, come to complete stop, shift into drive.

If I do this perfectly it will not make the thump. I am meticulous about this.

It is a normal noise, it is a subdued and very quiet engine/drivetrain related noise (almost like a small thud) that sounds internal like a system check that is being done by the ecu/tcu with some component. I would not be concerned. Seems everyone with the 2.0 and cvt have the same sound if they know what to listen for. I know both mine make the exact same sound at the same exact speed.
