6 speed manual

Well I've driven a manual shift for many years, but must say I have difficulty with the 1st gear on my sx. Had the car now 6 months, but still stall when starting into 1st

Has anyone figured out the issue or taken in and had it fixed??

I have the same problem. It's hard to get it started smoothly in first, if you look at car and driver and all the other car magazines they say the same, it's pretty much a bug of the 2010's they'll probably fix it for the later models :( too bad we're stuck with it.
Rev it to 1.5-2k Then slowly let go of the clutch. I have no problems when I do that.
A bit clunky for me at first but only because my other car is an FJ Cruiser with a Std transmission and a stiff clutch. But just as NeoSober says watch your RPM's until you can get the hang of it. Love my KOUP!
Yeah it's a pain in the ass. If I'm not on a hill or need to speed away I actual start in 2nd alot. 2nd is almost like what first should be

Yea< tend to do that ,ost of the time, but its the odd time that I dont and geting the revs just right with the clutch on this model it tough and stalls, really feel stupid at lights when its stalls....

I know, other than the first gear issue I've been really pleased with the car
Same... it's my biggest complaint. But I can live with it and have already learned to deal with it. If a fix comes along great. If not, oh well
I have absolutely no problem! At first it was a bit touchy (comming from a 93 integra with a cable clutch) but ive had the car 3 months to this day now and its as smooth as i could ask for

how many miles are on your car? did it get better over time?

I have about 4400 miles on mine and the clutch is a little touchy on cold starts but the real problem is from first to second. Sometime it doesn't want to go in smooth at all and have to rev it a little to make it happen. It seems to get better with time and mileage.
Yea, ive noticed the 1st to 2nd. That was a big thing when i first was driving it. Its pretty smooth now though. No hesitation! Mines got about 3400mi on it. The climate seems to have a big influence on the shifting. I always allow my car to warm up, even if its 60 degrees for example
well I drive 40 miles to work and by the first ten my baby runs smooth, not hesitation and without stalling.
I have a 5speed, not 6, but I had to really watch my rpm's when starting out for a while, and still do on occasion.
Every once in a while I almost stall it, but it picks back up
definitely have to let the clutch out sloooooooowly when starting out though, but It's pretty easy to get the hang of
My friend drove the forte (only let him bc he let me drive his rx7) and he stalled it a couple times, so it's definitely just a strange clutch or something of the like
I plan on getting a clutch with some real weight behind it soon anyway, stage 1 or 2, in prep for the turbokit=]
No problems here on 1st with the 5-spd.. only the occasional 1-2 jerk.. I feel lucky now, you guys are worse off than we are... You guys should write a letter to KIA, I'm in the process of writing mine, just trying to make it right. If I do not get a response I"ll file another claim with the New Motor Vehicle Board of California...
i dont know if its me that already got used to but in my case i found it really easier on the clutch thing for the 6mt after installing an intake tube and cone filter; there's no more easy stalling ever since...

Yeah, but that is because you love the sound of it when you rev it up... I know I do...:D
I could've sworn someone on the forums here mentioned installing a lightweight crank pulley fixed the problem, I forgot which thread and who did.....
I had my stalling issue too, but I am already used to it and can take off fine. The only change I made was to change the plane of the the clutch pedal by adding a stainless steel block and fastening it on to the pedal. I prefer to have the clutch pedal in a higher plane than the brake pedal and go pedals.

At least it helped with the stalling :D
