Hello Y'all, I'm new to the Kia scene in general. I just picked up a 2024 forte gt 6spd for 22k /w 16,787 miles. I've noticed on most start ups the engine idles high (normal) but when is goes to settle back down there's a noticeable "bump" from the engine then it the rpms drop from roughly 1500 to 900. Is that a normal thing? the bump or vibration I mean.
What are y'all doing to reduce road noise?
Also, I was reading some threads about blow off valves and did some video watching for bypass valves... I've had my intake tube blow off a few times and it is quite annoying. I have it tight as I can by hand currently and no issues yet. I use to work for Honda as a tech for a year and the SI's seems to be made for driving but the Forte GT .... it's SUPER nice but doesn't seem to be made for a track the turbo lag is quite noticeable.. any tips on minimizing that?

Welcome to the forum. If you have questions about your ride, post them in the appropriate area, please. You're more likely to get answers that way. I can't answer any of your questions as I'm not a mechanic and haven't owned a turbo in over 40 years.

I'm not a moderator, Newbie. I just mentioned it because a lot of folks (for some reason) won't respond to anyone posting questions in the newbie introductions. I don't know if there's performance parts on the market for 2024 models or not. I got all of that out of my system as a young man running Mopars.

You bought your ‘24 GT pre-owned, correct? Was is modified in anyway?

The intake tube shouldn’t be coming off and should be securely attached to the factory specifications.

I combed over this vehicle quite well, except the under carriage. Nothing modified, I found if I accelerated hard and suddenly let off the pedal I assume the back pressure was too much and popped the tube off. BUT i now have it as tight as I can get it (by hand), no issue so far. Interesting thing.. only 16,860 miles and I noticed an oil pan leak, needs minimum 1 rear wheel bearing and a sloppy (stumbles shifting into3rd) 3rd gear. Lol the soon to be tech is either gonna love me or hate my ass, depending how slow it is at the dealer.
